Michael Schumacher has been warned by Ross Brawn that'll have to change his driving style to adapt to the new regulations for 2005 – while the World Champion himself says he is preparing for a tough season.
While 2004 was a veritable stroll for the German, winning a mere 13 races in the process, Schumi is convinced that the likes of McLaren will offer far tougher opposition in the forthcoming campaign.
"I'm sure it will be a much more difficult year," Michael told The Sunday Times.
"Firstly, it was unexpected for us to be much stronger than the others at the start of 2004, and whatever mistakes they made they probably won't repeat.
"At the same time, it has been very tough to get to where we are and we'd like to hold on. I believe we can."
Meanwhile, Brawn, the Ferrari technical director, acknowledged that the new rule which requires drivers to use the same set of tyres through qualifying and a race, will require Schumacher to change styles.
"One thing Michael does supremely is drive in stints - say, 20 laps flat out, then come in and change the tyres and start again," Brawn explained.
"This year, with only being allowed one set of tyres per race, he'll have to adapt. What's interesting is that he has always been harder on tyres than Rubens [Barrichello], so he's going to have to be much more measured."
