hi guys!

i'm facing stupid problem! well i guess its not stupid!

anyway,

i have ADSL and i'm using EZtouch! the problem that when i connect to the internet everything works fine i mean the modem working! the net working! BASS i cant browse! and cant open messenger! well means i cant access the NET!
but in the same hand this modem working 3adi on my PC! if u think something wrong with the LAPTOP! well its not! i format it! and everything! plus ams it was working bass not anymore!

i dont know whats the problem! help me!

yes i did! i install everything!!

la and at work the net working 3adi! bass at home when i use the modem its not!

do you have somethin on the bottem right where the msn icons are kept, somethin that says "status".. if you do.. click on that, and then click "diagnostic", it checks your line, your browser, your modem.. and it will tell you whats wrong.

Its definitely not a hardware problem and I really doubt it's a software problem.. I think its user-related where the brain has been corrupted due to excessive exposure to nonsense...

1- call up bateclo and ask them to check ur line and operator if its functioning correctly.

2- go buy a new ADSL modem "SpeedTouch" from Geant. coz the one u got is crap!

3- if u have any "google" or "yahoo" toolbars, remove them. coz sometimes they conflict with each other!

4- set ur Preferred DNS and Alternate DNS servers to
A- 193.188.97.193
B- 193.188.97.194


if the problem still presists ... then i recommend u reinstall windows !

Ur solutions was most practical. But if I recall correctly I think Sofia mentioned that when she's at office the NET is working but when she gets home it doesnt...

Well, Sofia 1st of all check the Router's webpage which will like 10.0.0.2 (this for Speedtouch ADSL rounter) in that page U'll see all the setup for Ur router that U use at home.

See if the Mode is "always-on", Link is "connected", and State is "up". Now if the 1st two were correct as I mentioned this means that Ur PC or laptopn has established a connection with router only not to the internet. Now if the state is down this means U don't have connection to the internet and if its up then U have a connection.

I think the password that Ur using at work is different than the one Ur using at home. Check this one out see if it works. and yeah when Ur doing this call batelco on 17881188 so they can guide U through the configurations.

Well all the best and I hope it works with U.

And yeah about MSN and Yahoo toolbar getting conflict, it bunch of crap.

i did! i did called them! and they came! bass they said THEY DONT KNOW! cool ha!

Check if the modem is recieving/sending any data when it is hooked up to the PC? If it isnt then its the driver you have installed for your modem, might be conflicting with the version of windows you have. Otherwise the problem could be with the inet explorer settings (eg proxy etc.)

Do the other programs such as messenger, kazaa etc work or is it just inet explorer?

Create a new connection and make sure that all your internet settings on your laptop match the one on your PC. Go to DOS by going to start --> RUN --> "CMD" and type netstat. See what conenction are reported and post that here. Also try to ping a website "www.google.com" or "www.batelco.com.bh" and see if you get 100% response or not. Hmmm, what else can you try... try to tracert a webiste by typing in the following command in your DOS's command prompt "tracert www.gulfgt.com" hmmm, what kinda xfer rate do you get at your connection status tab? hmmmm... If you still have problems lemmy know. Try to uninstall your modem driver or update it off the net.. By the way?! I'm assuming your using WinXP as an operating system.. Do you have a service pack installed.. !? What verison of the Service pack do you have ..!?!?

i did! i did ping and teacert! everything FINE! and about the SP its 2! i put 1! but same! i called Batelco again and they will be here by next week or early morning! i dont know what the problem! i mean everythin fine! but no net!

4ced, nothing working! no msn, kazaa, nothing!

***i have my friend laptop and my couzin laptop! both of them JUST fine! but the same sh!t! no net! when i fix them on my line! but what killing me that the net working on the house pc!!! and when i share it and use cross cable! it works on my laptop! but using the modem direct no!
