I have come to realize that not a lot of people in this country have what is known as common sense……………….common sense Is not something you can learn its something you develop from when you where a KID and it also depends on the environment that you were brought up in your school and educational back ground play a big role…….

By the way boys this is just my opinion ….how about you give your input

Vette4ever is not referring to the forum. he means in our country. I totally agree with him.. Common sense has no presence here. Only a minority are an exception. Look at our drivers. Look at the people throwing things out of cars. Look at our arrogance. Look at our ignorance. Look at the way we look at life.
If we try to correct these basic things, i think we will be on the correct path in achieving common sense...

common sense means paying attention to the obvious. y3ni this is not as easy as it sounds... we all have vivid imaginations, and we tend to get lost in our fantasies.

when fantasy replaces common sense, life becomes farcical and even tragic. life is a series of ordinary events that follow the laws of logic and probability.... these ordinary events are indifferent to our fantasies and require the careful n accurate navigation of common sense.

Examples for common sense: Looking both ways before crossing the street. Not sticking your hand in water when you see steam rising from it. And so on....

Just because you have common sense, it doesn't mean you are safe from doing silly things. Because your curiosity can get the best of you. Or sometimes common sense is not enough when you are very very lazy.

Curiosity could harm you even though you have common sense. For example; If you see a big accident on the highway, (rubbernecking) your common sense will tell you it's very dangerous to slow down and look because someone behind you could be speeding and not paying attention to you but rather to the accident and bang, your curiosity just got you hurt.

Laziness could also cancel out common sense. For example; Light flicking a cigarette out of your window. Common sense tells you it's dangerous and dirty and in some countries you can get a ticket for it. But because you don't want to clean your ash tray every two days and because it's the easy way out, you'd rather look in your rearview mirror and check for no cops and then flick it out anyway. Anybody who uses the road as an ash tray does not have common sense and is very lazy.

Does that answer your question, VetteForEver.

Regarding the meaningless replies to posts, it's a common disease in probably 90% of the forums around the world. I'm actually on another forum that somebody started a thread called "Meaningless Replies to Posts", and so far that thread has the highest count of posts on it. People on the forum have taken that thread and turned it into the off-topic thread. But that's just the case of somebody who was serious trying to talk about how to make that forum exciting, instead the other members took it as a joke and just kept posting useless posts. You have the posters who have one-liner posts and poeple who have just icons as replies, and you have the poeple who are trying to use common sense to help the forum out. But then again, there are people who tell the truth but mean mischief by it. I guess you just have to use your common sense to tell you how to react to things. So like I said, it's a very common thing in all the forums.

Well, how do you really categorize forums? It's probably by age or interests. And in this forum we have a diversity of both. It isn't always easy to homogenize subjects to a degree that doesn't cause friction between either one side or the other. But both sides should repect each other, even if they disagree. And disagreements should be debated with civility and intelligence.

Jack Nicholson said, in "A Few Good Men", "You can't handle the truth." But apparantly the other side were the people who brought out the truth. Abraham Lincoln said, "How many legs does a dog have if you call the tail a leg? Four; calling a tail a leg doesn't make it a leg." Arthur Conan Doyle said, "Whenever you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth."

The best, I think is said by Buddha:

"Believe nothing just because a so-called wise person said it. Believe nothing just because a belief is gennerally held. Believe nothing just because it is said in ancient books. Believe nothing just because it is said to be of divine origin. Believe nothing just because someone else believes it. Believe only what you yourself test and judge to be true."

Now I feel that we are seeking something that is hard to find.

i do agree with u bro.......but a lot of members on this forum tend to mention names and pin point..............

when it comes to respect all u need to do is use your common sense which should and would inform u respect people that respect u and if they don’t u would still give it a try but once it gets out of hand (then again a human can only handle so much) then i guess that person would treat the other person the same way......as they say treat people the same way u like to be treated

truth the hole truth and nothing but the truth

bro if common sense is hard to find then i think we have a problem and all vette did was provide us with his point of view and asked others what they think....

Mentioning names and name calling is unacceptable. That is just insults. I'm very fortunate that I have not yet been at the receiving end of any of this. People who demand respect generally get it, and when they don't, they're smart enough to leave the situation behind.

I think the forum should open either a chat room or a lounge for just the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Or on a serious note, there should be a section just for members to have reasoned and determined debate.

it makes a man to confront his mistakes and makes of a man a child when he runs away from his mistakes... Although common sense is a widly reffered to concept in the this fourm..unfortunatly not a lot of people acually give it a chance and untilize its powers....see if i was a dictator right now i would think common sense is to close this thread and not allow anyone to discuss issuses like these because they are on the egde of provocative...but common sense also says that if i do close this thread everyone would jump up and say why close a thread that is useful and has a great deal of depth to it...
...confusis say if you can bit the rabbit on its tail run around it and bit it;s nose...

I'm sorry guys, but I feel like you guys are confusing common sense with courage. You could be blessed with common sense but you could have weak reflexes to your senses. Now, again, I call for a private lounge in which to discuss this verbal diarrhea, or at least we should start a poll and see if people want a private lounge where everything goes. Except for porn, of course.

You really lost me when you said "doggy terms" there. But you brought up something interesting, which is weak nerves. Which I think the opposite of that is having strong convictions and balls of steel.

Designo, your avator is really nauseating. No disrespect intended.

But sure, I don't mind an explanation if we keep the conversation interesting and to a point, if we can stick to one.

Jack Black, in the movie, "School of Rock" what was he trying to teach the little kids when he said "stick it to the man". (It was not sexual) This is not really a question, because I know what he meant in the movie when he said it. Now here's the question, Is this thread about "sticking it to the man"? Now that I need some explanation for. Those of you who don't understand what I'm saying don't ask me for the explanation. But it is a term that a lot of people are probably familiar with.
