First of all make sure you have the following:

1- Intel motherboard and intel processor (not AMD nor Celeron)
2- go for 512 or more of ram
3- Hard disk of 80GB is good
4- LG CD-Rewriter and I recommand LG DVD-Rewriter
5- Network card, modem, sound card, mouse, keyboard and screen.
6- get more than 64MB VGA for high quality movies preview or gaming (if gaming please not less than 128)

and I believe that is all.

I have used AMD for the longest time, they are pain in the ass!!

I dont recommand them, intel if you got it right with the motherboard, then you have a beast

AMd have all high talk but no walk. i have experienced the stupidity of AMDs and it is shocking!!

darkfms2000 your list is great but SVT if ure using it for surfing and browsing i recommend a wireless mouse and keyboard specially Logitech.

Also 80gb is not that large go for a 120 its only BD10 or 15 more.

Also in terms of graphics go for nVidia cos ATI are giving compatibility issues and nVidia is recommended for the new Windows Vista OS
