Urgent Help Seeked

hi guys. Ive got a dell lappy.all of a sudden,i cant use my mic anymore. i open the sound controls, and the mic controls have disappeared. i used the utilities cd,and re-installed the soundcards driver,same thing. i cant get it to a dell dealer,cuz those S.O.Bs dont have any here in the UK.im under an international 3 year warranty,bas i dunno what to do. the only way u can deal with them is by fone or internet. if anyone knows what to do,please help me.:crying2:

when u double click on the speaker, open the speaker window

options--->properties-- recording button--> ok

what sliders do u have?

sigma tel c-major audio. its the only one.

sounds like mic is not detected

i think ill have to wait till i return to bahrain. im really sick of this.i paid a **** load for this laptop, and im not happy with this problem.

hmm , can you hear anything from the speaker ??

if yes that easy , cheack what Ottoman say "when u double click on the speaker, open the speaker window

options--->properties-- recording button--> ok"

and put tic for mic.

if you don't hear anything

re-installed the soundcards driver from device manager

i did re-install the soundcard with the utilities cd,but nothing changed. the system does not recognise the precense of a mic or even a mic input.

is your mic external or internal ya3ni is it onboard mic or did u get it separately?

its an external mic. ive tried it on my cuzins laptops,it works fine.
