Trust me nosy...
A stock 2jz would rip the shiit outta a stock ls1 anyday of the week...
Then with a simple turn of a knob...U raise the boost keeping everything stock still...U get 450+ whp :drooling:

Didn't you say stock vs stock :) ...
But sure ...This big block of JDMs can only handle 900 hp on stock bottom end ...So no worries...Push your button and the JDM would do the same too :) The JDM would pull away with ease :drooling:

i admit LS1 engines are fast to mod .. also the 2j ..
but from what i see .. 2j is more FAST to mod .. 900hp on stock bottom end :)

It all depends on what you want to do and where do u want to go.
and if u want to work on the car ur self, what do u know about more, Turbo or N/A v8.
Both are great motors, I'de be confused if i was in ur place.

for those who dont know the 2jz.. here are some things u might find interesting:
-the ls1 is known for its torque, a stock 2jz has more torque than a ls1.. and its not just a small difference, but.. around 70lb!
-a stock 2jz has more hp than the ls1!
-a stock 2jz bottom end handles 900HP, an ls1 with 900hp on stock bottom end will break into a million pieces
-2jz is iron block ls1 is aluminum
-it costs 300bd to get 450whp on a 2jz, it costs 3000bd to get 450whp on an ls1
-a BPU (basic performance upgrade) supra, is a everyday use Z06 killer! (known fact in the US)
-a 2jz costs 400BD, an ls1 costs somwhere around 1000BD!
oh, and btw.. theres a difference between a US spec 2jz and a JDM 2jz.. the US spec is 340HP, bigger turbos, 550 injectors, MAF sensor engine.. while the JDM is 280HP smaller turbos (good for 18psi only) 440 injectors MAP sensor engine.
i think i made ur choice much easier, oh.. and the sound of the turbo is just sexxxx!

i totally agree with Staind Wheels , its better to go with the 2jz, ive seen BMW's like urs and earlier models in Dubai most with 2jz swaps, i know a guy who did a new m3 engine swap on a 1990 model M3, the cas was fine, but the owner chucked the engine swaped it with a 2jz with T88 turbo all done in Performance Group in Dubai +9714-3401804.... go for the 2jz

its just a matter of opinion.. my opinion was based on:
1. today a i saw a naturally aspirated trans-am beat a 750cc GSX w/ good driver in a 1 kilo race.. i never saw a supra pass a 750cc GSX.. btw the 750cc is way faster than old 900cc's.. and the Trans-am is naturally aspirated powered by LS1. Imagine if it was FI.. in the 2JZ-GTE you only have one option which is turbo.. in ls1 you have N/A and FI, and NOS. N/A they did high 8's.. imagine turbo and supercharger what they will do?
2. LS1 is not 1000 BD, that is someone who wants to steal ur money.. gimme 800 BD and ill sell my engine which has only 40,000 km and modified camshaft, valve spring, ti retainers and ls6 intake! there was one modified with heads/camshaft etc that was sold for 1300 BD and it made 433whp N/A.. that 500+ to the crank.. my friend bought ls1's for 380 BD stock.. it depends on how well the engine is and mileage and maintained and modified.. the 2jz also starts from 400 BD ranging untill 1000+ BD depending on many things just like the ls1.
3. trust me you dont wanna talk about aftermarket parts.. there are many parts and combos and setups.. but supras only talk about "BPU and BPU+".. if you think BPU is so affordable and fast then take a 03 cobra+ and add pulley and headers.. one qatari guy did it in bahrain and it made 490whp.. NOW THATS SOMETHING I CALL INEXPENSIVE.
4. why are all the guys in bahrain who race ls1 owners? why there no import i see doing something? if supra mods is cheap then why does no one modify them and beat the $hit out of everyone? im sure u have more money than most ls1 owners! where is ur car why is not racing anyone and not passing bikes?

I dont like the idea of a conversion of an engine for a car that is not of the same manufacturer. you want an LS1 motor buy any chevy car and drop that motor in there and same goes with the Toyota. And you can always build your Beemer motor.
Its like having the body of a Ferrari, and when you open the hood the engine says Nissan rb26

because.. camaro's are like flies here in bahrain.. they are cheap and for the average bahraini, a camaro is the only fast car he can afford. a 93 supra sells for 7000 minimum!
another thing is that.. in bahrain we have maybe 10 or 15 TT supra's not more! we have over 100 camaro's, so.. u do the math! the import scenece isnt that big here in bahrain.. but, its growing.. look at the UAE the camaro is not considered a car! they make fun of bahraini's because we go buy camaro's from them because they are so cheap.. its GTR's and Supras that are dominating the scene and the dragstrip!

the only ppl on this forum with cars ubove 500hp are BRN996TT and GGT600,you can ask them how much did it cost them to do so.
and yeah Im talking about BRN's Supra/996 adn inshallah the new 997 beast.
ooh yeah, and our own admin Mr.Tag the owner of Bahrain Dyno and a guy who does this for a living had a 600+ Hp Camaro, he can tell us how much he spent.
Camaro69LS1 (the almighty twins) can tell you how much would it cost too, they are the builders of 3 cars that rored and scramed in our strip.
in simple english, 500+hp is no joke and needs big bucks. Cut the crap Yall.

you can go 500 whp on stock twins supra but u gotta push it with tunning and stuff . and its much easier to go 550 whp on tiny small T61-T57 turbo BUDGET KIT ) around 1700 USD :) stock injectors , stock cams stock maf and stock motor !
and heres a very old time slip of what a stock twins is capable of ! plus they are running high 10's and low 11's right now !

There is a guy i know who has a 2jz-gte supra and he spent 10,000 BD and a stock lumina can pass him... because of lack of knowledge about modifiying like SA!
about daily driving.. they wont be as reliable as ls1's.. shomelli goes almost every night to the gahwa with his car which is a daily driver ( auto tranny, 2 seats, stereo, A/C, power steering) and does 11.2 when he takes the power steering and a/c belt off and he never had one problem with it (mashalla).. but mr. bahrain_zupra gets complaints from foreigners with many errors in there car and they dont make half the power shomelli makes! whenever i see him with different supras and ask him to race he is like "no the car has problems". last time i told him to race a caprice which weighs much more than a supra.. and the caprice had full exhaust and a camshaft and tuned by TAG.. and im sure that car will whip any of ur supras easily!
if 2jz-gte are so good why are they not making them anymore? ls1 are still produced on MANY cars. Why doesnt rx-7 owners put 2jzgte instead of ls1.. there are many imports swapping ls1! why not take 2jzgte? if 2jzgte has lots of torque then why dont they put them in trucks like some trucks have ls1's under the hood!
ill make a deal with u.. bring me ANY 2jzgte on ANY car in bahrain ANYTIME this week and i will bring you an N/A LS1 to race and well see who will pass and share the mods and see who spent more then you will understand.
you should experience and not only read.. i raced many races in my life and i know which cars are fast and which cars are slow.. 2jzgte is fast for japanese but not for american muscle.

in bahrain if you mean crank HP, silver bullet w/o NOS i think has probably 700 HP to the crank and maybe 550whp? the trans-am made 500whp with no NOS.. these are all N/A..
if you want FI.. then the blue camaro did almost 1000whp and 940rwtq..

i like the 2jz it have a good stock batem. but.
you cant get to 700+ rwhp 300bd i am shur. you need moor than 4000bd.
and if you can make 2jz 700rwhp lase than that you can call my fraind spalsh [a mamber here] he have 86 supra with 2jz.
every one have tt supra have 300bd. i never see a supra here in bahrain moor than 700rwhp.
bay the way a race supras from uea never lost to one.

Mods would be mild bolt-ons :
-exhaust
-aftermarket air filter
-boost controller ...
-intercooler

mahdi, bahraini supra knows alot about supras, that why ppl from out of the country give their cars to him, for him to fix and mod.. so, whenever u see him in a supra, that means its still under construction or being fixed, that doesnt mean that all supras are like this, unfourtunatly.. in bahrain we have a small number of 2jz supra's and a huge number of ls1's! yes, it does cost 300bd to get 450whp on a supra.. and u know what, ill proove it to u once im done with my car.. im not willing to take my car over that.. BPU+ is my goal, im not going single turbo.. i dont need that power.. i love the stock twins of the supra!

although he doesnt admit it, im sure his car is somewhere in that region 400-500whp.. me, ottoman and silver arrow have repeatedly told him that well pay for his dyno run just to convince him that his car is no longer STOCK!
