In the small town of Boise, ID you would ask questions like: “Isn’t that where potatoes come from?” Or “Is that by Iowa?” You wouldn’t think to ask, “Hey, is that the state where that 500hp Nissan 240sx is?” Until now. After many months/years of frustration, Chris Pugh is now to become somewhat famous in the Import scene of Boise, ID, and Nationally.
Chris first started getting into cars right out of high school. Starting with his 94 Honda Prelude, that he did minor mods to, allthe way to his new project: a power house 1993 Nissan 240sx. When the car was first purchased it had minor cosmetic work done (Silvia front end, carbon fiber hood, and Volk TE-37s) to it, but it still only had the KA motor in it. This would not be a platform for Chris to want to start with, so after about 3 days of owning the car the motor was pulled and in its place was an SR20det that Chris had in his previous 240sx. From this point Chris had nothing but problems -- from overheating to leaks. This did not stop Chris from continuing working on his car, he just went ahead and had a few things done to it to make it faster. He started with the powerImage made by the turbo. Chris upgraded from the T-28 to his new t3/t4 50trim. He also upgraded with the Full Race turbo manifold, and to help the fuel out he put in 820cc injectors.

He knew the setup was fast, probably one of the fastest cars Boise. Running just this setup he managed to pull 386hp. He never had a chance to get a race in at the local track, but he did get in some battles on the street. From this point on, Chris ran into more problems -- and the biggest one yet, rod knock. This would be a major set back, and an ending to most that blow their motor, but not Chris. He would just go on and fully build the motor. He had an extra block setting in his garage, which was to be sent off to get the powerhouse put in it. Starting with CP pistons, Eagle rods, HKS 272 Cams, Comp Springs, Crower retainers, and an AEM EMS (Engine Management System). Most of Imagethe block assembly and port job on the head was done at a local machine shop, but Chris took over from there and wanted to finish the rest of it.
After about three, of what seemed to be, endless nights, the motor is in and ready to rock. Chris is still going through the brake in stages on it, so it is still yet to see the drag track or any real dyno numbers. However, you can look for him to be into the 10s and to have somewhere over 500whp.
