well it started off when i went to open my laptop to do what i do evry day for the past 6 months watch and trade in the american stock market . evry thing went fine untill 20 mins ago where my internet just shuted down for no reason so i called the batelco guys with an angry tone in my voice and here is what happend .
bateclo personal : hello this is hussain how can i help you sir ??
ME : well are you guys experinceing any problems with the internet because im having a hard time logging in ??
BP : no sir , but we are upgrading the packages and if you try again in 5 mins evry thing will be fine .
ME : upgraing the packages ?? can i have more feed back on this please ??
BP : didnt you get the msg sir ??
ME : no !!!
BP : well , you have the 512 Kbps package so we upgraded you to 1Mbps and lowered the rate to 40 bds insted of 50 bds and for a limited use of 15 gega bite per month , which means there is no more flat rate for unlimited use per monthe .
ME : 15 gega ??? so what if i over use my 15 gega ??? cant i get a flat rate like b4 for more money ???
BP : no sir , our studies showed that the average use of internet in bahrain per person is alot less than 15 gega so the rate should be fine . and about the extra use you pay 10 fils per 1 MB if you want to keep it the way it is untill the end of the month other wise we will down grade you speed to 64Kbps and you dont have to pay more than 40 bds or you can credit 10 bds and use them for as long as they can last you .
ME : * not really happy with this * well this is good so what other upgrades did you do * with a not really happy voice *
BP : well sir we now have 1Mb and 2Mb for 60 bds and the same rules i told you b4 apply on the 20Mb package but insted of 15 gega you get 20 gega .
ME : aha , so when is it activated and if i want to change to the 2Mb package when can i do that and how ???
BP: the rates will be activated on MAY 25th this means you can use the flat rate for 21 more days and to upgrade you have to wait untill the 25th to do so and you can do it on the phone or go to any of our branches .
i thanked him and closed the phone , im happy with the speed its pretty kool but not really sure about getting a fixed amount of useage and then charged extra or get slower speed . so what do you guys think about this

man, it was in new papers for a while,i thought every one knew about it.
i think this is good (for me) haha, ill have fast INTERNET at home and I can do all the downloads I want from work.
but i cant really rely on batelco man, the sharing rate is 25:1 and thats alot.
Davide 1mbps/25 (1024/25) so the guaranteed bandwidth that u get is 40.96Kbps which is not even half what you pay for, or best effort.
so U might get 1mbps, but only when no one around u and a radius of I don't know what is not using their connection.

yeah i seen that at the site today. this is so like them. jacking it up like idiots when the new guys come and then losing it all. i know hundreds of ppl who are ready to change at one more thing batelco did and this was it.. now no matter what new isp comes as long as its flat rate unlimited bandwidth il take it... i even know someone who works for one of em maybe il get a good deal.
15GB? as if thats enuff to handle any home... and they a$$-holingly made the bandwidth more and reduced what u can do with it. go to the batelco site the way they suggested the use of bandwidth is a very funny bloody read

thats the thing i cant afford to lose the internet connection for 1 sec between 2:30 and 1:30 am at any cost because this means alot of mess in what i do and Fwon here is talking about other ppl , what other ppl dude do u know of them or when are they coming or thats just a word of hope ??
and is it true that 15 gega is enough because i use the net ALOT in those 8-10 hours evry day but satday and sunday and do u think that 10 fils per 1Mb is good . coz when i said that i will go to orbit for the internet package they have alot of ppl said dont . so its very risky here now or am i over worrying about this

if u are the only person using it, and not a big fan of downloads u will be fine.
15 geg is alot btw, but not enough for a family of 4-5 ppl who are using the internet for alot fo things.
Browsing, eamils, and chatting wont go anything over 2gigs if u dont down load the vedios in everythread u see.
u should be fine man.

the hell with them what about us the play online games ???
i depend on that big time and having an unlimited offer should be an option they forced this just to stop the illeagel sharing that they cant control in buildings and residential areas .. idiots if u want ppl to sto psharing then reduce the prices to a reasonable sense
now im really pissed i rather go for orbit then waste my money on them

FInally they realised that if they did what the companies in the UK do, they would make more money.

ADM , its ripoff in your face .
they should have made choices of faster internet yet with unlimited useage not limit our use to 15 or 20 gega and then charge us more .

if u think batelco is bad, I advice u not to go with Orbit.
you are better off waiting for another 3-4 months, and real ISP's will enter the residential Field and give u a real INTERNET service like batelco and better.

Kraigoth, you know that every word i said was a fact. You cannot compete that easily with Batelco. They were the 1st here. They know how to play the game. Because they understand the Bahraini community more than foriengn providers. How Many years will it take another provider to wire up the whole kingdom? ok, so they will make wireless networks. Not everyone can afford a wireless modem. Its just the simple rule of Batelco being supreme and staying supreme.

kraigoth sorry for the late reply. the there are actually 9 new ISPscoming to contend like 2connect and the new orbit something that offers homeline but their prices are too high. 2connect is supposedly going to offer 1,1.5 and 2 unlimited access for a 40 or50 pm package and u get a wireless receiver not a lanline

Exactly what i said. Batelco will remain supreme since it has dug up Bahrain and wired it up herself through all these years. There is no way in hell the other isp's will afford to do that,or even attempt it. They might rent cables from Batelco. But even then, Batelco will still benefit. A majority of the Bahraini community cannot afford to to buy wireless modems. We have to think of that issue as a priority. Guys, give it up. This is a battle that is one sided. Batelco will remain supreme no matter what happens. And nothing government funded will ever go broke.
