CUSTOMVTX

i was just wondering whether anybod has put a corvette engine in a chevy truck, ( silverado 1500) or anything similar?

if so, how does it turn out, in terms of speed and torque?

trucks usually have less horsepower and more torque, unlike cars.

Truck engines have more potential power than vette 350’s but the cam and heads are designed for low end torque because that’s what a truck needs, so if you have a 6.0 truck engine just get a decent cam good flowing heads which most trucks already have, high compression pistons and you have a killer engine.

Do you mean L98 vette engine? yes there is one with L98 working on stock TBI system, its pretty fast believe me, it belongs to my freiend navy blue 1992 silverado stepside.
if you are going to buy a corvette engine or thinking, get a 1999 vortec truck engine 350ci change the cam & intake for better curve, good exuast, you will be doing 380HP +, vortec heads flow much more than the L98 aluminum heads, the vortec'ed silverado from hamad town is way faster than the the L98 one, both have traction problems but both are fast. All the best & good luck.

who does the vortec ( black truck ) belong to, and what year is your gmc, what have you modified it.

guys i'm new to this modifying engines thing, so bare with me a little, i just got the truck and still don't know whether i should leave it stock or modify the engine.

in terms of speed, i already have a motorcyle ( a cruiser ) which i have slighty modified.

acceleration is what gives me a rush, not top speed.

It belongs to my cousin, it has vortec engin hyd roller 290R cam kit, Performer RPM intake with a bullit proof TH350 transmission.

In my truck the only mod was the flat top pistons, MSD & headers.

I think leaving your truck stock is better than to modify it half the way if you have the cash $$$$ go for full mods or not, in another way making your truck loxy (rims, scoop, lowering&lights) is better than engine mods. All the best & good luck

salsa383,
i have already asked for a lower kits, my friend is going to the states and he'll be getting me a beltech kit, i read about djm kits, they are not as good. please don't be offended but i am the picky type. i like everything to be perfect, to the millimeter. i'm trying to get a 2"/3" kit i have to keep in mind that i will be load my motorcycle in the back of the truck, thats 350 kg.

where is your shop anyway?
the you the one who did the lowering kit for the red chevy with the 454 engine. (ahmed's) ?

Beltech or DJM they are all exactly the same some plates, brackets, nuts & bolts, we cant say wich is better cuz we only need to flip the rear end. the pictures shown are for a Qatari truck, yassery has the beltech the maroon truck has DJM copy, my truck has beltech copy aheheheh they are all same. my place is in Salmabad United close to blaxeco. What coulor is your truck?wich year?

First of all let me say THATS A BAD ASS MUTHA****N TRUCK YASSREEZ I don’t tell you that enough sorry..........

The answer to your question is simple but technical in its own right let me put this way if I where you first id make sure all the engine mount match up and if not could custom mounts be built for it.... then I would get me majoring tape, find me a tt and get the distances between the engine with its accessories such as A/C, POWER STEARING PUMP, STARTER and the fire wall, radiator, inner fenders ...............haa but the job aint done yet...after that id go and pop the a3s hood and make sure its gonna accommodate the bigger motor. From there if every thing fits me project should be peachy.
The reason I tell you all this is because id hate 4 you to pull the motor-out and the find out is not ganna happen THAT GANNA SUCK big time now-a-days most mechanic’s wont tell you its not ganna work until its to late and you are in **** knee deep then charge some more BD's to putt it where it was then the only option would be is to:banghead: or :uzi: the mechanice so good luck with it :lildevil:
