Silly Question

Hey Guyz, i was just wondering why is there Camaro's Z28?
What Does Z28 mean? why not Z27? oe Z29?

This Z28 was since the 70's, so what does it mean? :confused:

They also didn't have a name. In a replay of the struggle to come up with the name "Camaro" they tried several different approaches, including Piggens' choice, "Cheetah." The one that came closest to actual use was "302 Special Performance." In the meantime the bureaucratic workings at Chevrolet had already assigned a Regular Production Option code to what they were calling the Special Performance Package. Apparently, RPO Z27 had been assigned to the SS although it didn't appear under that option until 1969, and the new option was assigned the next number, Z28. It is not known when the decision was made to use the RPO code for the name, but probably not until after the first cars were built.

silly quesion indeed, not all camaro's are Z28's, some are RS, SS, IROC and it goes on, Z28 is an RPO code for the trim option is came out of the factory with.

btw, every chevy can be an SS, but only a camaro can be a Z28.

Yeah but there is a difference as the GT mustang does not look like th LX but with Camaro's they all look the same yet they will have IROC or Z28 on.. get my drift?

Automotive press asked Chevrolet product managers "What is a Camaro?", and were it was "a small, vicious animal that eats Mustangs.


here you go buddy. IROC means, International Race Of Chapmions, a race series that was sponsered by camaro from 1974-1980 and 1984-1990.

In 1994 i had a 1977 Camaro LT type, those days were okay, it was the rise of Ali Aryan and we were all one group.. i built this car from the ground up for drag use.. after that i got a bike and the rest is history.. here's a pic i found of my car..
