Mods plz dont put this thread in the computer section, cuz ppl rarely go there.

Today's million dollar questions are:
1.How do you transfer data from one Business database to another?
2.What type of hardware and software do you use?
3.What protocols do the data go through to reach its destination?
4.A diagram of this process?
5.Advantages and disadvantages.

IT members of gulfgt plz help me with these questions, because i found alot of info on the net but i dont know which is the right one. i know their might be more than one answer but i wanna know which one of those is the best.
All im asking from you is to help me find the best answer. :)

1. Export & Import
2. Depends on your DB (Oracle, SQL...etc)
3. Mostly TCP/IP
4. which platforms are you talking about (UNIX, Microsoft, Novell) which DB (Oracle, SQL...etc)
5. disadvantages: if the data is too big it will take hell of time.
