Guys, all of a sudden today, the screen of my laptop just went black. It seems as if the back light of the screen is gone dead. If i close the screen, and reopen it, it will give display for about 15 seconds, and go black again like its been switched off.
I really need your help on this one guys.
I did leave it lastnight with the screen open, and i had a picture of a white 911 in the background. Is it because the screen was left to have full illumination and maximum brightness that the display got tired?
Cheers

The backlight seems to be flickering a bit. I turned down the brightness of the screen, and it will work. Once i crank it up a bit, it goes all black again. This is pissing me off really badly. And Dell havent even replied to me yet!!

so when u turn the brightness down a little the screen comes back alive?
deffinately not a software/driver problem
sounds like ur LCD is dying...
i'd get it replaced if its still under warranty..
if it's not... sell it asap... it's a ticking time bomb

Hey Otto. I got a reply from DELL. They said that since i did get a display onto an external screen, and that i can still use the screen under a dimmed setting, then the backlight is fauly. The screen will be replaced under warranty, or i could take it to an LCD specialist and have the bulbs changed.
Thanx for the help bro :)
