twin turbo manual supras is what you want, they are the best available out there. but all that comes at a price and they are the most difficult to get a hold of. its also worth mentioning that standard stock supras are hard to come by. almost all have some kind of mods on them.

buying tips:

the engine is pretty tough, but check the cambelt. the head gasket is a weak point. smoke from exhaust and loud noise from stock turbos, mean the turbos are worn and need to be changed. it you want turbo get a turbo supra, converting a non turbo supra to turbo can be costly.

check the suspension, excessive tire wear can mean tracking problem and could also mean suspension problems.

the manual trasmission can get noisy with age, but both manual and automatic are bullet-proof.

interior should be fine, but check all buttons work fine.

bodywork, check for accident damage. to do this is to find for gaps in the panels and bumpers because toyota finish should be excellent.

average prices from what i have seen

tt supra auto 8k-10k dinars with under 100k kilometers
tt supra manual 10k-13k dinars with under 100k kilometers

supra auto 5k-7k dinars
supra manual 6k-8k dinars

tip, if you dont mind RHD source one from Japan, or UK, they cost quite a bit less

Quarantine summed it all up.. although the prices he posted are a bit high..

anyways... most of the TT supras we have here are converted from NA, know this.. the non turbo comes with a 5 speed.. the turbo comes with the indestructable Getrag 6 speed. the engine can be sourced for as less as 350BD.. but make sure the tranny is fine.. since a used supra 6 speed cant be found for less than 1300BD nowadays. dont get fooled when they say the car has been converted to TT.. u can never fully convert a NA supra to TT.. the differences are just too big! if the car was auto before.. then its most likely using the 1jz tranny which is good for 550rwhp and goes for 200bd. the auto goes for as low as 50bd, although its a pretty sturdy tranny as well!

if the turbos smoke.. its fine, ur gonna change them anyway.. check for rattles, stay away from the T-tops.. the supra is an old car.. u dont want the top to rattle like a camaro! it took me alot of time to fix my T top.. check the differentials.. the TT comes with a LSD.. get the car on a lift and check if its still intact (get someone to hold one wheel.. and spin the other)

a RHD converted car could go for as low as 3500, a Gulf Spec (converted to turbo) goes for 5 or 6.. a Turbo US Spec is what u want since its the only way u can get a non converted original LHD TT supra!and they go for 5-8 depending on condition here in bahrain, or as high as 20k in the states! jsut make sure the car is solid and the body is intact!
