Anyone know how to make their Torrents DL faster
at work on the satelight i can max out the connection 120 kbps
at home on the $hitty batelco connection
even with a tracker that has 10,000 seeds, and 50,000 leechs
I still get only 10kbps out of my 512 connection
Anyone know any secrets to DL faster on Buttelco?
i've been playing with shu mod.. but no luck

You need to change share ratio ,
The more stuff you uploading, the more you can download
check the firewall , for blocked ports (ports 6881-6689 should be open )
You also should check , to how many seeds/peers you can connect ( in options of Bt client )
some torrent trackers have ratio limit , if your UP/DL ratio is too small , the tracker kicks you,

Ive been trying to download torrents, but i never got around on how to do it. A tutorial would be very helpful from you guys who use it.
On Bearshare, my download speed averages at 3MB/s, the other day i saw it hit 5.2mb/s while i was downloading Pirates of the Carrabean. And if i were using an external hard drive, would the transfer be slower as it has to divert to an alternative storage?

no use otto i've been trying all sorts of boosters and stuff for the bitcomet that i use but no use ..
the main problem is our provider which we have no choice but to live with it
while using the bitcomet just right click on the download and keep on clicking the manual connect you will see the speed rise high for a while around 60 to 70k then drop again after 5 mins or so .. u gotta do the same practice again
good luck

Ottoman, I'm using a 1mbps connection from batelco and for torrents with high number of seeds the download speed is over 100KBps.
If you are using a Router then you need to do port forwarding in the router to forward the ports 6881-6689.
I recommend using Azureus .. if the smilie next to the file ur downloading using azureus is green then everyhing is working fine and now you can complaine about batelco.. if its not green then there are something u need to do like ublocking the ports in the firewall or forwarding the ports in the router.
yeah some torrents dont allow you to get full download speed unless u make the upload maximum speed 5KBps or higher.
hope this helps =)

i'm on a USB style DSL modem.. no router...
the problem i think is the share ratio... since our upload speed sucks.. and we have a cap.. no one hosts seeds and uploads... including me
so my ratio is like 0.6... so azureus is limiting me on purpose...
vicious cycle...
