bye bye 350z
welcome 370z

summary :
- 2009 !!
- next Z will be keep the general shape of the outgoing model
- 3.7-liter VQ-series V6 ( VQ37VHR ) same as the G37(330 hp range)
- maybe not a real replasment bcoz nissan markets the 350Z not as the 350Z, but as the Nissan Z Coupe , maybe to stay with the name " Z Coupe " if they change the just the engine .

if u r asking about the VQ37VHR it's going to be used first in G37 then the new Z , other than that nothing , but it's used in some concept cars I think and some spiecal nismo Z's to try the new "VVEL"

the current Z engine (2007) in mid-east is still the VQ35DE , in the other world it's replaced by the new VQ35HR

For those of you who dont know, VVEL (Variable Valve Event and Lift)... this is a very advanced valvetrain control mechanisim to the extent that honda will be devloping a similar system for their upcoming A-VTEC (Advaned VTEC).

Would be interested to see the new GTR with this technology ;)

nice dude .... I like when someone says that he is planing to get a nissan :D

about the Z ...
I think the Z is just a sporty ride not a performance car when it's on a stock shape ... u c it's all about aftermarket .. it's like that they give u the correct base and u r the one to finish it and to push it to the "limits" - modded 350z can pass alot of skylines ( of course I'm not talking about just bolt-on's ) - so you can understand that they sell nismo Z in usa ( fairlady in japan ) without real mods in the engine but just a different set-ups ( that's what I call them :D )

and I really think it's not the right time to deside what exactly to have - bcoz we don't know what we going to have here ( there are 3 types of GT-R , new Z , new silvia/250sx !! , new altima coupe ) i don't think that they are going to bring them all here !! , the GT-R we going to have it maybe after the other world by one year maybe - they going to have it in 2008 as 2009 model I asked some people works 4 nissan here , ksa and uae they all said that we going to have it in late 2009 as 2010 model !!!

still really don't know if we r going to have 2008 altima with VQ35HR engine as some people says but the wonderful thing that it's going to be the same output in the both cases !!!
27x hp for both engines !!!
and that bcoz the altima if it uses VQ35DE it's going to be updated vesion and if it's going to have the VQ35HR it's going to be "detuned" !!!
VQ35DE cost less than VQ35HR so I think they going to use the first one

btw bro , HR engines are the Tiida engines :bounce: HR16DE

The 2009 Nissan 350Z was supposed to get a huge performance upgrade for the 2009 model year. But while the Japanese company is busy planning a hybrid lineup, small sports coupe and the launch of the Nissan GT-R, Nissan has pushed back the next-generation Z.

However on the cards for the next-generation Z is a brand new facelift. But that’s not what we’re interested in. Performance will be upgraded by 30 horsepower as the Infiniti G37’s 3.7 liter V6, 330 horsepower engine will find its way under the hood of the next-generation Z. The car will be called the Nissan 370Z.

Until then you can opt for the Nissan Nismo Type 380RS. The Nissan 370Z will be on the market in late 2010.

so you guys forget about the 370z for some years ahead..

I hope not.. but i'm guessing it will due to emissions and fuel economy reasons

variable valve timing and boost don't work well together.. in the high power world

becomes hard to tune and get them working with each other instead of against...

example: late 2JZ with VVTi late SR20DET late RB25DET

big power cars throw the new engine go with the classic motors..

alot of B series honda's that are boosted

they install "Vtec killer cams" and the run a single lobed cam..

Vtec engagement plus boost kickin in.. tuners night mare

cancel the Vtec khallas let the Snail do the work

I beg to differ with you Ottoman, Variable cams and boost are awesome!!! Unless your only talking about drag specific cars. On road cars the powerband is linear and the torque curve is flatest of flat. And yes i do talk from experiance and have seen first hand what variable timing and boost can do.

Good tuners see Variable timing as a blessing... bad tuners see it as a nightmare ;)

what cars to be specific?

i'm guessing they were small turbo cars?
on smaller quick spooling cars VVT is fine...

what i meant was high HP cars...

UPDATE

Nissan 370Z to Appear at L.A. Auto Show

So now it’s final. Nissan will showcase the next new Z-Car at the L.A. Auto Show this November. This will be the real thing, not a teaser, according to a source, who added that the car looks ‘fantastic.’’

A lot of blurb on the new Z is already out in cyberspace but yes, the new Z will be shorter than now (some four-inches, apparently) but a touch wider, still have two-seats and yes, power will come from the same excellent 3.7-liter V-6 found in the Infiniti G37 Coupe.

So welcome the 370Z and while the new design will be evolutionary, we understand it’s still instantly and unmistakably a Z. Roll on November
