whts wrong with this place?

all right...first off i have to say , this site CAN be very fun/informative at times...and ..thats about it. I've been on the recieving end of some good advice and info

MODs u guys have to do something to juice this place up..
Almost all the posts are in the general/ off topic section ...and there are some ridiculous threads too! no offense to anyone.
pretty sure there are plenty of ppl like me who agree.

Something to consider would be competitions or anything along those lines.

there are some real smart people(technically atleast) on board and its a shame they dont have enough reasons to post.

put some effort b4 it falls into the posers abyss:flush:

i dont wanna sound like im grabbing at straws, but one suggestion would be a chat room ,for starters, in some cases this may not be a good thing.
but becoz, this is bahrain and almost everyone knows someone who knows everyone, itd help..the members may be able to get to know one another.

mods...do we really need 5 different sections based on performance?
like aerodynamics and engine etc...take this as constructive criticism please..these "sections" dont have a lotta threads so it feels empty.
i can understand why its done..but the site doesnt have a lot of threads being started in this section.
and i mentioned competitions,thats really upto you, coz ur the mods and it may involve cash..i dont know your stance on this issue..but you guys could get sponsors for a prize. A competition could be anything from who's got the best car to whose got the crappiest or something like that, its just an idea..dont quote me!
you'lll need to give a reason to the hardcore guys out there to be a join up..

please understand, im relatively new here...i dont know all the members, so there may be a lotta good tuners or mechs or whteverr on here.

So it may be a bit of a tilted view.

a competition sounds like an awesome idea... something like the one that went on at bahrainicars.com, they give out clues and you have to guess the places, take your car there and take a pic. The first person to solve all the clues and submit the pics wins!

IMO, the forum is running for free, we as members love to come here and chat or drop a line, but we're not supporting the forum (not all of us) but most of us (including me). and i feel that it's very good that the owner(s) are doing a good job running it from their own pocket, but we aren't contributing in it. that's why i feel there shouldn't be any extra fees on them (e.g. prizes, gifts, etc).

on national day cruise, we got free food, t-shirts, flags. and that was something out of their pocket too (probably a sponsor). but that was a good 1 really, and i again thank who ever organized and sponsored this event.

other than that, i printed out some GGt.com stickers for my car (kind of supporting), and that would just attract new ppl to join, still that wouldn't enhance the activities of the forum (or not as much as it could be noticable).

not all of us are tech-savvies, we got some knowledge, some info we share and learn from those best at it, but again, we can't discuss detailed stuff in the auto field.

regarding your suggestion of a ChatRoom, i think that would just abandon the practicality of the forum. it will just be dead (probs 4 threads a month).

altho i feel the style/theme of the forum is getting a bit old fashion, yet it's the only site that's 24/7 open on my screen.

never ever did GGT have give aways given by sponsors . its all from TAG's own contributions .. now i doubt any owner does what he is doing not forgetting how much it costs to keep this site up .. to those who think its only a 100BD or more dream on coz its much more than that

now to answer back to some of curve's suggestions

1 chat room is not recommended due to past tested experiences .. members tend to leave the forum and make it dull, they neglect the threads and stop posting topics and concentrate on just chatting ,, the point of having a forum is discussion and not chitchat ..

2 the point of having performance threads is a standard ( internationally ) followed in almost every single car related forum .. without distinguishing the engine from appearance mods everything will be a total mess. this is not a structure done by GGT its worldwide standard

3 i would agree with some of ur points regarding a new fresh look and competition and i will be glad to setup a meet with all the mods and admins and make u in charge of it as its your idea .. so let me know if your interested and lets see your ideas

we will start by having a thread that will contain a new logo contest lets involve our members in creating cool logo for GGT incase they want a new one
