any body knows someone who tried it ?
how is the speed around the country ?
the only problem i think they have is the self control , they say that when the limit is over , you don't have downspeed or whatever , you pay for the additional bytes

If you pass your limit speed goes to 128 , you can make local calls for free between WiMax users , speed 2m ... that's what i can remember

call them and ask everything, they should answer all your questions. give them your block number and they will tell you if the signal in your area will give full speed or not.

if you call them they'll lay the thickest layer of bs all over you and you'll think
the connection has godly powers! i mean... everyone was about to get LightSpeed and were psyched about it (yeah i was gonna switch too) then after the experiences i read on the forum i changed my mind... in other words, we need someone to take one for the team

wimax offers you what is basically a similar connection to batelco's; ie, a broadband home connection. only difference is that instead of getting you the information via cables dug up through the ground, you get the data wirelessly. zain has proved time and time again that their network is definately not on par when it comes to providing internet services. the e-go services they've provided, besides being overpriced, kept disconnecting users due to network errors. i know 3 people who have been constantly complaining about it.
another friend recently applied for wimax and after a quick installation, turns out the speed is nowhere near what is advertised, and there are hardly any users subscribed to it yet! imagine what happens when there is actually real pressure put on the network?
another thing, one of the immediate benefits of a wimax network was that you could subscribe and have a connection almost anywhere (or at least in the most populated/busy areas). here, you get to sign up, and install a device in your home giving you limited range AT home only. ie, if you leave your house, no more inet. so whats the point of a wireless connection?
prices arent great either. and if you want to compare them to batelco, batelcos aint great!
so i think i'm gonna stick with batelco , zain wasn't any good in wireless networks before

The thing is, how many actually want to go around Bahrain with their laptops all the time?
There is nothing better than a solid connection.

wimax doesnt mean you can get a connection all over bahrain!!!!!!!! its only CONNECTED to your home wirelessly, instead of a cable dug up in the road (ie, batelcos infrastructure) and you get limited range inside your house.
which is stupid because it defeats the purpose of having a national wireless network!

one; of course he takes my advice, which is based on knowledge, experience, and research.
two; which is more reliable than advice from a useless bum who cant even get a job, and when he does get one, he quits!
three; i didnt say it was the best in the mid east, i said it was pretty damn good compared to gulf air, dickhead
four; friends of "you" and "striker" really dont strike me as reliable sources.
and e-go is ****.

one: ur not the only one who has experience knowledge and research and I can tell you that none of these new ISPs are up the snuff.
two: Doesn't make difference besides I am a student as well so I can get a job if I wanted to.
three: IMO I have flown many long-haul trips on Emirates and Gulf Air to Australia and I can say despite the lack of entertainment Gulf Air's crew are more hospitable than the crappy Emirates crew and the food is much better.
four: You kno this guy as well
and as for e-go, well u mus b unlucky

Sorry 4ced, but I have dealt with BATELCO and I don't seem to have a problem with it. Why would I want a wireless network around the house when I have a solid connection from an RJ45? And the usage is unlimited. Sure, I finish off my threshold in a week, so what? I still manage to log onto the forum and use MSN, and when I want to download, I just leave it to do so overnight.
I never get disconnected, nor do I have any problems. BATELCO have always been smooth and quick with their service with me, so I speak as a happy customer, although I would love to get my full speed unlimited once again as it used to be.

you dont have a problem with it?
its overpriced, its got a ridiculous threshhold, and its nowhere near the advertised speed.
its not great, but its still your best option.
and wimax (and all the other options) are still crap in comparison. and liek they say, in the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king

considering our other options and the internet penetrations who else is to complain??
