paint change tutorial

save the pic of the any 2 cars twice as different file names (i.e. "hatch1" and "hatch2")

save the pic of the lexus

open Photoshop

open both the pictures
http://members.cox.net/civperc/step1.jpg

select the body that need a paint change, using the free lasso tool

http://members.cox.net/civperc/step2.jpg

move your cursor to the tools and under the hand tool is your foreground shade (grey square) click it

http://members.cox.net/civperc/step3.jpg

this small window will appear after clicking the foreground hue box, after it appears, click on the paint job of the Lexus, in the area you feel the true hue is best shown

http://members.cox.net/civperc/step4.jpg

still having the hatch's body selected, go to image--->adjust--->hue/sturation, and then select zero as the saturation level

http://members.cox.net/civperc/step5.jpg

the hatch is now grey-ish (no color sturation whatsoever), it should like like this

http://members.cox.net/civperc/step6.jpg

select the paintbrush tool, then select color mode (mode pull down menu next to brush size, make sure you use 100% also) and paint the entire selected area

http://members.cox.net/civperc/step7.jpg

it now should look just like this (this is a zoomed-in shot)

now the passenger side taillight need to be replaced back to stock, open your second hatch pic (i.e. "hatch2") and select the taillight using the free lasso tool, then copy it after you're done selecting

http://members.cox.net/civperc/step9.jpg

go back to the hatch in progress and paste in your taillight you just copied from the second stock hatch, and using the move tool (keyboard shortcut v), move it to where it covers the gold-looking taillight

http://members.cox.net/civperc/step11.jpg

now it's back to stock, it should look just like this

http://members.cox.net/civperc/step12.jpg

*repeat taillight process for the bit of license plate also showing*

if you have any edges of the body still looking red from missing it with the lasso tool, just select paintbrush (color mode at 100%) and have the lexus gold as your hue and paint over the red, I suggest brush size 5 in this case.

and now you're done :bigok:

hope u enjoyed it :naughty:

You should really give credit where credit is due for this tutorial (notice - the images are hosted in my Cox.net webspace) :-) I created it approx. 3-4 years ago and posted it on superhonda.com's Photoshop forum. The car is "EH2's" hatch; with the entire write-up done by me.

I hope this has helped out some of y'all with paint changes in PS :thumbs up:
