Yup guys be very careful, now they got video cameras and radars in the patrols... they print out the image of the speed in the car itself!!!

The camera's range is well over 1Km so the muroor doesnt even have to be behind you or chase you at high speed!

Drive safe guys coz the punishments are not worth it..

do the cams get pics from behind ? (i mean UAE they have some camera's fitted in the back and they can catch you when you are going fast from their back)

if it's not , prob. of getting caught is less , you can hummer the brakes :D and slow down before them

the problem is not patrols , it's the camera's they put in random places :S

Bro the cameras are in the patrols are the ones that you should worry about they can catch you from a long distance it doesnt matter from behind/front/side if youre in the camera's line of site it catches you. (the cameras/radars are also movable so he can move it independant from the direction of the patrol car.)

and the images are very very clear... so clear that even at 400m they can fill an A4 size photo frame with a pic of your plates.

hammering the brakes is no use cause the whole thing is recorded on video and the cop can print the max speed you reached from that video!!!

like i said be careful guys coz its not worth it especially when the fines can reach anywhere from 100 - 350BD (or maybe even more!)

i'm talking about the same highway, it's an international highway rule that when a highway passes really close to a city the speed limits have to be dropped to 80kmh or 55 mph. u'll see the 80 boards only when passing by hamad town and when entering manama, i.e. right before seef area

it's just that, that highway is so small that it ends just after starting, our luck, u need a real experience try travelling saudia, u'll see the same concept

people don't really understand highways because there is no education, there are international limitations on highway speeds all over the world, however, there is quite a big movment to increase the speeds because the new cars have improved safety and performance, but the problem is still with the older vehicles that are still drevin on the same highways.

I can't be bothered to dig them up at the moment I'm sorry, but if your interested google it, and it will also be useful if you google traffic engineering, design speed, 85th percentile rule, and aggregate safety. also keep in mind that these rules have to do with the environment, pedestrian safety, noise pollution and other things.

though i go the occassional blast at the odd hour and the right place, im all for any stricter laws that the traffic directorate comes up with cuz driving conditions/ manners are just goin towards the shitter by the second, lives are lost every week out here. even reckless drivers should be stopped

only reckless drivers/road hogs will have a problem with these stict rules

ive been driving close to 10 years now and even doing a simple thing like changing lanes requires 100% focus cuz of all the charging rhinos behind me

youre at a bloody intersection checking if all is clear and a ezhole behind u is blasting his horns!!!! happens everyday, makes me wonder about the average bahrainis sanity!!!

i wouldnt mind a traffic pol car patrolling every 500m of our roads (not just highways)

it wouldnt bother me

most accidnts happen in intersections , roundabouts and traffic lights (mostly which have camera's ) when i'm close to a traffic with a camera on it , i put 200$ focus on it so that i don't pass it in the wrong time , in others i can at least pass it after 0.5 sec. of red light , but with the camera you don't have 0.0001 sec !

and arad's traffic light is the most famous example

"They" are the people i talked to at the BIC not CRC. and i'm just say that as a reply when they say "we should take them off the streets and let them blow their energy on the track" or whatever, that not many people can pay BD75 for one day, if they made it cheaper then that's good.
and i don't speed anyway nor do i drive like an idiot, but i do drive at 130/140kph to get to uni and to them that = jail time, so now i'll have to hit the road an hour earlier just incase their crappy road designs cause jams and i get stuck for the time i saved driving over the speed limit.

if you drive at 100Km/h for 40Km's (that's from muharraq to sakheer) you'll reach after 24 minutes

if you do drive at 140km/h , you'll reach after 18 minutes

the difference is just 6 minutes !!

and yeah even in KSA they send you and your car to "jail" and number of dayz depend on your speed (don't forget how big and long their highways are)

don't blame it on CRC coz you want to go to uni faster that's it :D

Guys, how do we know the fine it legitimate?

I mean, when you pass by a normal speed camera, you get flashed 3 times, and that way you know that you were speeding and got caught. But with IR cameras, they could just pick on anyone and issue tickets right and left, and make sh1t loads of cash off our backs. And if someone gets caught on purpose, even thought he was not speeding at the time, he cannot argue the ticket and prove he wasn't it. But they can just come out and say "well, the camera caught you, so you must have been speeding".

I think this IR thing is a load of crap.

and not to forget now they'll issue more tickets on tint and seat belts, i always wear my seat belt, but what's up with the tint? we're not in communist russia!

ZEX: it takes me more or less 15 minutes from home to the traffic lights at hamad town, and then 30 minutes waiting at the lights depending on my luck, if i drive at 130ish i reach the lights in 5 minutes, don't u have morning classes??
and anyway i don't drive like an A hole, i take the left lane and drive along with the other drivers, i don't overtake from the right side, i don't flash my beam, i don't stick to people's bumpers, so i wouldn't consider it reckless driving, but they want their money and they'll send my ass to jail if they cought me, anyone thinks that's fair?

and what ADM said, i always wondered about el m5alfat el "3'yabya", how ligit are they? like they told me i had m5alafat 7zam and passing a red light and speeding, who the hell saw me? i don't pass reds ela at the middle of the nights and small empty roads, i don't remember seeing cops, what they just look at sumone who has a record and earn a few extra bucks on our behalf?

If I was driving 100km/h and I know for a fact I was. After a few days, a fine arrives for speeding. It will show me time and place, and I know that I was driving 100 and not breaking the law. How do I convince them that I was driving 100 and not 120 or 140?

i'm with you on that, if they send us anything "nakilha o naskit", they can send anything to anyone and we can't prove that we were obaying the law. they don't give a rat's a** about the deaths, all they want is to earn their salaries off our backs, after they made the jail thing speeders are less on the road, so they came up with the phone thing, or maybe of sumthin else i hear that "some one" brought some of those bluetooth ear things whatever they're called and wanted to sell'em, and i don't know about u, but i don't see any bloody highways where every week someone dies.

Dude, what are you talking about?

If you get a ticket, contest it, and then it's up to them to prove it!

when the ir cameras catch you, they also note down your speed. It happens in many countries, we all know that we speed..we just want to find a loop hole! my friend got caught speeding, and the speed that they quoted him was the speed he knew he was doing..also, they show u the picture right there and then..and on the speeding ticket, it says that the driver has seen the picture already, so they dont send it to your house or anything like that.
