I'm planning on putting together a bigass setup, for music and video production soon... computer-wise, im guessing a mac would work better than a win-based pc... so what sort of macs are there, and in what order do they rank?
took a look at the apple store today, theres the apple iMac's, mac pro's, macbook pro's, and normal macbooks...
im considering a mac pro, its about 1300 for a top of the line one (just the cpu), but any advice right now would be good

if u don't wanna blow a huge amount of cash..
I reccomend you go for the 20 or 24" Imac..
its got an amazing screen, quite powerful for most of your needs, still dual bootable.. and has a very small footprint...
* 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
* 4GB memory
* 500GB hard drive1
* 8x double-layer SuperDrive
* NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS with 512MB memory
for 850bd that's a good price..
for serious desktop work.. the Portable Mac's aren't really worth it
and the mac pro will be overkill for your application.. and buying a mac cinema display is a serious chunk of cash.. and it's silly having a powerhouse mac on a crappy regular LCD (colors displayed aren't true as well as poor res support)

im not thinking of a portable one.. I wanna set up a small audio video studio with the computer in the middle, so i dont want a laptop.. So the options i have are iMac and mac pro only, correct? Is the imac the one thats just a screen?

if im looking at apple's then obviously el budget shay 5a6eer :p i'm putting a good 4 or 5K for the whole studio setup, and i'm looking at a good thousand or so for the computer set up... i dunno, the imac's are better priced but not as powerful or configurable as the macpro... gotta do some serious thinking

unless ur planning on working for ILM.. the iMac will suit ur needs and more
trust me..
besides ur new to the mac world, most of ur time will be spent adjusting and learning to utilize the potential and capabilites the mac provides..
