i think the conditions were difficult for everyone, especiall when it started raining before the main event, i am sure team were changing their setups as precautionary steps!
however, lets not take anything away from ferrari cause they have shown everyone that their cars are reliable in all conditions. McLaren have been having problems with engine reliability especially with the new ONE engine per qeekend rule!
Williams have probably been having a bad run and lack preparation skils, but they wil be in there come the end of the season! I thought montoya was excellent! Unfortunately, he needs a better package! With the right package, we are looking at a future world champion!

overall, the whole F1 experience was EXCELLENT
i was really worried about how things were gonna work out basically in bahrain we have a lot people who are careless and small mis-haps here and there end up turning a really great event into a disappointment.
But not here, almost EVERYTHING worked out REALLY well. The track finished on time, the facilities were good, and the track is currently rated as one of the best in the world. Also, thing like parking and traffic which are usually a MESS in bahrain were very organized and that i was really surprised about, but im happy. Im proud that Bahrain did this event and made it so smoothly. Shk Salman allah y36ee el 3afya for really gripping this thing with an iron fist, because otherwise things would have easily gotten out of control.
The small things like the sand parking and shades (oh and the frozen shwarmas at the food stands) arent really a big deal im sure these will all be sorted out for next year. But in general the whole thing is
i love bahrain!

Not all went well in Bahrain
05/04/2004
Although Formula One and Bahraini officials are slapping each other on the back (quite rightly) following a successful inaugural Grand Prix, not everyone is happy.
Fans attending the race have complained of being ripped off by merchandise sellers at the circuit.
According to reports prices of some items such as T-Shirts, Caps and even earplugs, doubled, and in some cases quadrupled, in price between Friday and Sunday.
Officials at the Bahrain International Circuit insist that the merchandisers had nothing to do with them but were there as part of an agreement with Formula One organisers.
F1 fans that have attended races will be aware of the (common) practice of items on such stalls not being priced, which means that price tags don't need to be continually updated depending on how well business is going.
As for Bahraini racegoers... welcome to the other side of F1

Earplugs BD6 or was it 7?!?!?!!
caps for 15 and T-shirts....etc etc...
most of the items were over priced... :down2:

the whole pricing issue is normal. Sure, the items were overpriced, and that is typical of such events it is only expected. I didnt notice the prices increase though I think thats just messed up though... As for the whole food thing, I really think frozen shwarmas for 1.500 is stupid. But then, I hope we get better food stalls next year, and less expensive ear plugs
but then, if you just paid 170 for a ticket i dont think 3 bd for an ear plug is an issue

In Bahrain, Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello shared their 17th one-two.
It was Schumacher's seventy-third career victory in Formula One.
'A dream result,' said Michael, who later confessed that lower than expected track temperatures after a morning storm helped his Bridgestone tyre pace.
Technical director Ross Brawn echoed the sentiment.
'It was tough,' said MS, 'because we had to manage the brakes.'
Schumacher, 35, was also 'all shook up' for the first race stint.
'I couldn't unlock the brakes at the start,' he added, 'so I had much vibration. But all day, on this very tricky circuit, I drove slightly below my limit.'
Barrichello thinks a few drops of rain at the start worked against him.
'My brakes took time to warm up,' said the Brazilian.
He also started slowly after slipping on oil from an earlier historic F1 race.
Time was lost during a pitstop, too.
'I thought I could go,' he said, 'but it was still on the jack.'
Englishman Brawn had expected a 'much tougher' race.

It wasn't hard to spot the proudest dad in the F1 paddock on Sunday afternoon, all you had to do was take a look inside the BAR garage and you would have seem a beaming John Button smiling at his son.
advertisement
It's not every day that a father visits his son at work, or that the son even wants his dad to stop by, but John hasn't missed a race since Jenson was racing in karts as a nine-year-old. So there's no better person to assess how far Jenson has come - which according to his dad is a very long way.
However, parents can also be biased so John backs up his opinion by giving an illustration. He revealed that Jenson spent their drive to the Bahrain circuit, seven-and-a-half hours prior to the race, discussing ideas about how to maximise his race strategy with his mechanics.
"That is just one example of how Jenson is maturing and growing into the role of being the team leader. It is the sort of dedication for which Schumacher is renowned and which he realises is now expected of him at BAR," he told The Evening Standard.
Dad, though, is not the only one singing Button's praises. Dave Richards, his BAR team boss, said: "'Thanks to Jenson we have shown that our strong performance in Malaysia was no fluke. I put my cards on the table before a wheel was turned, saying that I believed in Jenson and the team's ability to deliver. I was not afraid to stand up and be counted and they are proving my confidence to be well placed."
"Jenson's two podium places have given us momentum, a surge of spirit and encouragement to achieve even more - although no-one is getting carried away and thinking we've got it made. What we do have is self-belief. These satisfying early results rub off both on the track team and those people back at our Brackley factory. It's a lovely feeling."

A Bahraini might one day join F1's current flock of mostly European drivers.
Sir Frank Williams, boss of the successful BMW-powered team, advised the country to establish a sort of 'Formula One school' so that F1 talent may be nurtured.
'They need to then join junior category races.'
JOURNEY
He said: 'It's a long journey but I'm sure this will become a reality.'
Later, BMW announced plans for such a school.
The 'Performance Centre Bahrain' will be built at the new F1 circuit sometime this year and is to teach selected young people racing skills 'from scratch'.

Bahrain’s new £80m circuit has received the thumbs up after a successful inaugural grand prix last weekend.
But the state-of-the-art circuit has put pressure on the out-dated European circuits to modernise or else lose their spot on the calendar.
The circuit in the sand featured everything that is synonymous with today’s Formula 1 championship – the highest technology, modern facilities and glamour.
From a drivers’ point of view the track is extremely challenging technically, but it offers overtaking opportunities that cannot be found on a lot of the current circuits.
Ferrari’s Michael Schumacher was one of the first drivers to praise the new track.
He said: "I think everyone knows I'm in love with Spa in Belgium, so that stays number one, but this is not far off.
"It's really taken care of all the problems we have in other circuits. I think it's a great success."
Team boss Frank Williams, a strong advocate of Silverstone, admitted that the attractive new circuit in Bahrain proved just how out-dated the Northampton facility was.
He told Reuters: "Bahrain shows you why Silverstone really has a material problem.
"I've always been a supporter of Silverstone but when you are here you think oh, there is a problem."
The airfield, which hosted the first F1 race in 1950, is currently being modernised. Around £40 million needs to be invested in the circuit to cover the improvements.
Ecclestone has always been openly critical of Silverstone and this weekend proved no exception with ITVF1’s Ted Kravitz hearing him joke: “Tell you what, let’s cancel this place and go to Silverstone instead!”
He later added: "They are never going to build something like this [Bahrain] but they certainly could build something a lot better than is being proposed."
Team boss Eddie Jordan added his weight: "Silverstone should up their game and if they don't they will suffer the consequences.
“There are too many new circuits that have come up with something unbelievable."

Kimi Raikkonen’s troubles at McLaren have put Ferrari on red alert.
Raikkonen has retired from each of the first three races this season, twice with Mercedes engine failures.
Not entirely surprisingly, last year’s championship runner-up was far from happy with the situation.
Talking after the race, he said: “All of a sudden I lost power and my engine went. There is not really anything else I can say or do.
"I just want to forget this weekend and look forward to the rest of the year.”
McLaren are working overtime to rectify the problems with team boss Ron Dennis even refusing to rule out personnel changes at the team.
But there was talk in Bahrain that Raikkonen is rapidly getting fed up and, in particular, is unhappy about the team taking on Juan Pablo Montoya for 2005.
Paddock rumours in Sakhir had the Finn trying to do a deal with Ferrari for 2007, by which time Michael Schumacher is likely to have retired.
Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo has made no secret of his admiration for Raikkonen. He said in January that the 24-year-old was “the best driver after Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello”.
However, with McLaren likely to move heaven and earth to keep Raikkonen out of Ferrari’s clutches, Renault’s Fernando Alonso remains the favourite to eventually replace Schumacher.

Williams did not have the best of results from the Bahrain Grand Prix, but BMW motorsport director Mario Theissen said there were some positive points. Juan Pablo Montoya looked to be heading for a secure third place when gearbox problems caused him to fall rapidly off the pace. He tried to nurse the car home, dropping down the field, and eventually came to a halt on the start straight, to be classified 13th.

Ralf Schumacher had an eventful race, clashing with the BAR of Takuma Sato early on, then fighting his way up to finish seventh. Saturday qualifying proved to be the highlight of the weekend, when Montoya and Schumacher took the second row in third and fourth respectively.
"We shouldn't dramatise things," said Theissen, according to the team website. "Of course this wasn't the result we had hoped for. Nevertheless, we are leaving Bahrain with some positive impressions."
"We took our best qualifying result of the season so far, and although Ferrari has again proven to be a class of its own in race trim, we have been able to further reduce the gap in this area, lapping only 0.5 slower."
Montoya, naturally, was disappointed about his abrupt decline down the order at the end of the race. "I had a good pace and would have come third, if I hadn't had a gearbox problem with about 10 laps to go," said the Colombian.
"I first lost the seventh gear and then a few more gears and then I eventually lost all drive. There was nothing else to do but try to finish the race which is why I continued and ultimately it was disappointing, of course, because I couldn't even finish in the points."

Ferrari were given a $10,000 fine for an incident involving Rubens Barrichello in the pitlane.
The team were given the penalty after they released the Brazilian from his pitstop in front of Renault’s Jarno Trulli, an action deemed ‘unsafe’ by the race stewards.
After the race Barrichello claimed he was not to blame, he said: "I was coming down the pitlane and he cut across me and I had to brake.
“When I saw him I actually braked to avoid him because he was going past me. The team told me to keep on pushing because I might get a penalty because of that. It was a bit worrying but it was not my intention to block Jarno at that point."
The stewards also investigated the tussle between Williams’ Ralf Schumacher and the BAR of Takuma Sato. The pair touched going into Turn two sending Schumacher off track.
Following the race the stewards gave the German a reprimand for not leaving Sato enough room.
Under the new penalty system drivers can receive three reprimands before facing a race ban.
