Hi Guys, if i have a 1984 Corvette with the Crossfire V8 350ci engine... what is the process of bolting on the supercharger, does it just adapt or do u have to change stuff and stuff to make it fit....?? Im kinda stuck cuz if its worth i might save up for it, if not i will leave it stock....Advise plz all comments welcomed... thanx

depends on what you wanna do, with a 350 you would be better off without a supercharger..depends on a lot of things and you could probably make more power without a supercharger..there are many combinations and many parts for 350 engines, so its up to u..if you want to bolt on a supercharger to a stock engine then you're wasting your money and time..and you better forget about the cross fire injection.. :doom:

Ok so if i were to forget about the Supercharger, what do u recomend for parts as step by step for increase in power? U see i lack some knowledge in the engine bay so if u could help me a bit cuz this engine is making me nutz... Someone in the shops mentioned changing the Crossfire to a fuel injection with a Holley Kit... but i realy dunno... what to fit and what not to??

Thanx SS 4 ur reply

it depends on how much you're willing to spend..getting a whole fuel injection system is pretty expensive..check out summitracing.com for prices..about the engine there are many things you could do, stroker kit, heads, intake...it dpends on how you want to use the car and how much you wanna spend..if you vould tell me that i can recommend some stuff..

you really dont need a stroker, a 350 would do fine..i suggest a good set heads, intake, cam kit, etc..salsa383 is the man for recommending exact stuff..:up2:

well an easier idea is getting a 350 vortech engine..i think they make about 280hp with a performaer rpm intake and a mild cam..or you can just get vortech heads for your engine, intake and cam kit, it would be the same..vortech engines are about 500-600 bd maybe or less..check out summitracing.com or other companies for prices of vortech heads, edelbrock intakes and cam kits..i can;t rememebr the size of cam though, salsa383 has all the details :up2:

if i have the corvette(i will soon inshallah) i will do these things

1_0.30 over pistons
2_sportsman 2 cylinder heads or brodix
3_wild cam(292 degre maybe)
4_rockers
5_roller lifters for hydrulic cam
6_timing chain
7_hooker headers(super comptition)
8_kit shift for the tranz
9_torqe converter
10_edelbroke performer R.P.M for Q-jet carb
11_Q-jet carb
12_gear ratio(3.54 or 3.73)
13_B&M megashifter
14_racing wires and plugs(ignition system)
15_hushpower 2 flow master muffler
thats if i had money

and if i dont

i think mid cam, headers, exhaust for freshin up,Q-jet carb, filter K&N,and some lil stuff to freshin up the engine till u get the $$$ to pay real things

i hope u see the good things for 350 crossfire engine :)

but if u had an LT-1 corvette here is the things

1_0.30 forged pistons
2_aluminum heads(220cc)
3_256 degree cam
4_lifters,rockers and springs
5_throttle body(58mm)
6_the stock intake is good but put larger injectors (24lb/h)
7_kit shift
8_gear ratio(3.73)
9_hooker headers
10_O2 sensors
11_hypertech programer
12_160 degre thermostat
13_gear cooling B&M
14_good grip tires(BFGoodrich)
and if i have more money

383 stroker wont say no :)

and post some picture for ur car plz

a 350, replace heads, a nice intake, and a few small mods here and there sounds good, and would increase the output probably more than u think. supercharger is a nice idea but the whole engine would need to be reworked to get the most out of it, and youd end up spending a whole lot of $$$ on it

man if that ur engine go throw the fuel system

its old and u will find some parts in the hard way

make it a carb and a good fuel pump for the right carb u will use

then think about modefin the engine

if i have that engin i will throw the fuel system away

i hope i can race u one day :)

and good luck

Thug Life
September 22nd, 2004, 09:45 AM
LS-1 need too much work and $$$

if u want

put LT-1 then midefid it to LT-4 if u want

but if u found LT-5 that cames at ZR-1 u better take that engine

it has 375 H.P

Lt-1 corvette has 300 H.P

LT-4 330 H.P normal ZR-1

LT-5 32 valve 4 cams 330 H.P and there is another 375 H.P

put i say if u want a good engine put LT-1 corvette

its much better than LS-1 in $$$$$$$

but its ur car and u can do what ever u wanna do :)

I considered the swap but then when i saw what 350 could be converted into using the right packages it would be worth the effort to mod it but i jus hope everything goes to plan...

Thug Life

ur normal engine is 350

LT-1 350
LT-4 350
LT-5 350
LS-1 350
LS-6 350
TPI 350
TBI 350
ZZ4 350

there is too many 350s u can do

put if i has the corvette

i will go for sure for the normal block with hardcore or lunati stroker kit 383

ur block is good it has 2 bolt main block and its 350ci

LT-1 corvette, camaro, trans am has 4 bolt main block and those engine are good enough for 540 H.P less or more as u like

IMPORT TUNER this is my advise to u if u dont like it just forget it, before u do anything to your vette engine be sure that the car is fine on the road make sure that tha brakes, suspension, electricals, alignment....etc are all functional you will never enjoy a corvette with a bad handling espesially if its fast, making the car faster is way much easer than making it handle good. If you want an engine to daily drive the car & kick some LS1 @$$s on budget try this out:

-Preparing & recondetioning your short block with flat top pistons (we are shooting for 10:1 comp) this will cost you almost BD180 for parts & machine shop.
-Vortec cylinder heads. $500
-Hot cam kit. $580 (There are so many grinds to suit your application)
-RPM air gap manifold. $230
-Long tubes for Y-body. $400-700 (depending on brand)
-Speed Demon carb 750cfm. $440
-Lets say more $400 for finishing accesories.
-MSD 6AL $160 all above parts + shipping & handling charges

This combo will guarantee u 310hp in the rear wheels (401@fhp) with fine tunning the engine, you also have to keep in mind the mechanic & the electrician labour charge. All the best with your vette.

Thanx Salsa383 i love it, so i will start saving up for that list... and plus that is easy on the wallet so that is great... but the car as i said b4 is taking a long time to finish up so that will give me enough time to save up 4 it... Just one more question do u have any idea which 383 stroker kit would fit nicely on the 350 and how much it would cost me....

salsa's list is the best way to go, your engine doesn;t have to be a 383 to be fast..

Boss it doesnt matter how long it takes as long as u keep your list of parts ready and follow your time table. About the stroker kit you dont need Lunati or callies as long as its a daily driver (Lunati is too expensive & good for racing porpuses better), as u said on budget if u want to go 383ci you need bigger heads for better flowing to feed the hungry 383 otherwise u will kill the volumetric effecincy, so a 383ci need bigger heads & cam that means more $$$$, stick to your short block for more rpm (383 with vortec heads will creat a tourqy engine good for towing only), if u are insist about a 383 check out www.speedomotive.com they have great kits with great prices that suit your application. All the best with your Vette.
