During the last 4-6 days my car used to give me an electrical shock (a small spark) when I get out of the car & close the door.
This morning my car hardly started until this moment, The battery is almost dead..
I think the reason is a bad electrical circuit.
What do you think & where should I take it?
Its 2004 caprice.

1st of all, thats just static electricity being discharged from the car onto you. Your an IT guy, you should know all about this.

2nd, what kind of battery are you using? Check your battery. If its service free, then its life has ended and this time, get Exide.

ur alternator is not charging the battery

it should be 13.4-14.5 volts

less than that ur alternator is shot

First, do what Otto said. Stick a multimeter on the battery terminals with the engine running and check for the voltage to be 14+. If yes, then your alternator is charging the battery. If not, then you know what your problem is.

Get Exide and go home with a big smile on your face. Unless you can afford an Optima battery?

All alternators have voltage regulators. Even an IDG has one!
