Hey Guys

I have heard in Dubai and possibly Saudi you cant register a car older than 7 yrs ...

Does this rule apply to Bahrain?

I'm about to finalise a deal on a 1978 model car from Saudi, will it be a simple process to bring into Bahrain and register it ?

Its not yet implemented here, but if you don't have "wastah" you will go through Hell to register it here, they are going to X-ray it in the inspection

I would suggest you keep the Saudi plates on it and insure it every year on the causeway.

SVT - Xray it for what ? .. rust..?

To keep the car on Saudi plates it would have to be registered in Saudi correct?

Considering I am a Bahrian resident, but not a Bahraini or Gulf national I would be unable to do this ???

I didn't mean literally "X-ray it", what i meant is they are going to inspect every inch on it and under it, and try as much as they can to fail it in the inspection

My bad i thought you were Bahraini, good luck with registration man

Make sure you check all the document from KSA because they always have mistakes in them, last time i bought a car from there they gave me documents with wrong chassis number and car got hold on the causeway until i sort it out.

they can't ban them unless a specific one is almost a wreck, what would happen to the classics

I was watching some idiot in kuwait say that they will implement the "5 year" rule very soon there! What a pathetic attempt at trying to screw people over without offering them proper public transport!

They have completely lost the plot! And our authorities are no different

as far as I know.. u can't export a car from Saudi unless u are a saudi Citizen

the owner there will have to export it for u.. and then transfer then name to u once it's here..

other than that it shouldn't be a problem

What about exporting a 90s car to KSA and having the plates converted to KSA?

^^any car below 2005 wont make it to saudi, except some cars with 30+ years where customs will consider it classic and registerd with specific number plates!
