Michael Schumacher led Jenson Button in the final practice session for the San Marino Grand Prix, clocking a 1:20.125.

Button’s best time was a 1:20.150, which put him 0.025 seconds behind Michael and just under seventh tenths ahead of Fernando Alonso.

David Coulthard was also 0.719 seconds behind and was one of the few drivers to have an incident during the session. The McLaren driver spun his MP4019 when he hit the kerbs too hard. However he was able to continue.

Juan Pablo Montoya was fifth quickest ahead of Rubens Barrichello and Takuma Sato. Jarno Trulli set the eighth best time with Kimi Raikkonen ninth and Cristiano da Matta tenth.

Ralf Schumacher, who was 11th fastest, was another driver to have an incident when he lost control of his Williams and had to take to the run-off. He, though, was able to continue.

Giorgio Pantano wasn’t able to get in much running during the final practice as his Jordan stopped out on track while Zsolt Baumgartner crashed in the final minutes.
