Need some help again guys, as some of you on here seem a lot more knowledgeable on this than me.

I need to fix the hard top to my convertible vette, it has some fibre glass damage on the corners, and needs glass inserted. Who do you recommend I take this to for a good job done? And how much should it cost?

Secondly, I'm still working out the plan for rebuilding the LT1 engine in the vette, where is a good machine shop to do the maybe necessary metal work, porting intake, bore cylinders, balancing etc. ? And how much should it cost?

No point in porting the intake if the heads are not ported, or the throttle body is stock to match them up. And the TB doesn't need to be upgraded unless you start pushing beyond 500whp. And if you are not going to be throwing a cam in there, don't even bother.

Garage 2000 for the machine work, get your heads milled and the block bored.

I don't think they do balancing, I believe I asked them when I took the heads there.

Since your block is a 4 bolt main, you should looking into some good internals and get a nice cam that loves high RPM so you can spin it to the moon! ARP the heads and the bottom end.

Thanks for the info.

Im still planning out what I will be doing exactly, based on budget and what's available to me. Am not planning to race the car much so don't want to go too insane, still I would love to have the power :p

New cam is a definite
Will rework the heads or new AFR heads based on my confidence in the recommended Garage 2000
52-58mm TB which will require porting the intake.
Headers
Possible new rotation assembly, shorter stroke, but again depending on what's available to me.

Oh yeah, just as reference.

Passed by Al Jazeera workshop, Lulu Road today he quoted me 24BD to bore the cylinders.
The guy didn't know what balancing meant.

I think there are some guys at UAE that can balance but in bahrain forget it and if I was you my set up will be :
.030 over pistons flat tops with 2 valve reliefs
.31 head gasket
complete ARP bolts
224/230 cam along with 1.6 rockers
ported heads and port matched to the intake
full bolt ons
high volume oil pump
double roller timing chain(if there is any for LT series engines)
shift kit and clutches
SVO injectors

thats a very good street friendly set up

Garage 2000 does not do head porting. And there are better options than just buying AFR and using them as cast. Contact either Advanced Inductions or Lloyd Elliot, they both port stock heads to whatever cc you want or need and will grind you a custom cam to match the heads. You tell them what you want your cam to be like, what compression ratio your after, they will tell you what thickness gasket to go with and will guide you in the right direction.

Use a standard volume, high pressure pump from GM (they are around 20BD only). A high volume pump will suck the stock pan dry.

You don't need a TB bigger than the stock size, so avoid wasting your money on that unless the cam shop tell you it will constrict your flow to make power.

There are double roller timing chains, but again for a street application the GM units will take all the beating you can throw at them. Replace the sprockets and the chain, because they wear out together.

Get some #30 SVO injectors to support your new cam, the stock are maxing out on the CC503 (224/230) already.

For the rocker arms, your options are wide open. Just don't buy Proform lol you can get them as a package with the heads and cam.

The stock crank is very strong, will support applications over 500whp so save the cash for something else. Invest in some forged pistons, possibly some forged I beam con-rods or H beam if you want the extra insurance of strength.

ARP head bolts are the way to go.

Thanks for your suggestions. It seems like youve done this before :)
Very helpful, and will be sure to run the plan by you as it forms.

While were on the topic of parts. What are your suggestions on where to get parts? Are there good places here in Bahrain to get things, or is it mostly ordered. I was planning a big order from Summit, but if there was somewhere here I could get things like the Headers, it would save me a bunch on shipping.

When you order in bulk, every item you add is only like 8-15$ more! So you will do more saving by buying all your parts from Summit at once.

Anything else you need, just ask.

persoally I would go with AI 180cc with a custom "street" solid cam, they make some crazy power with these combo's.

My only regret is not going solid roller.
