View Full Version : Should I or should I not?

Well... i was thinking about it the other day.
I love the ///M, it has got to be the only car I have never gotten tired of enjoying! The viper bored me, the porsche pi$$es me off after a while, the lexus puts me to sleep. It's time to to see what all this JDM business is all about!
I would never think of letting go of this beast, but only for something worth the risk! So I want your honest opinion on this guys!
I have spent way too much time and effort on the M5 and it's exactly what I wanted it to be. Every day I drive it I get to appreciate how much engineering and passion went into this car! I dont know how to explain it!
But.... I have two sedans in my garage. The Lexus is my daily driver... maybe my 2nd car should be a sports coupe.
And only one candidate has come to my mind... the other one is far fetched as its not fiancially feasible for me right.
The question is.. should I trade in my M for a 2009 US Spec GTR with only 2000 miles?

Both are totally diffrent cars ahmed, many other sports car you owned - as you mentioned- got bored off except the m5 what will make the GT-R an exception?? ask your self than you will be able to decide. its your choice and its sad to loss you from the ///M community bro. good luck.

D, I said it before and I will say it again.
Sell your M and get a 07/08 997 Turbo... and you will have a nice grin on your face for the rest of your life!
a GTR will break your back with service + maintenece + their tranny problems.
Turbo's are fast, realiable, daily driven, and you know how sexy they are especially with your way of modding (exhaust, wheels, spacers which is all you need IMO)

it depends, I would think about how rare the V10 will be in the coming years, and if I want to keep it as a collectors car, but then again, if you realy want to collect a vert M6 like Hatim's ride would be the perfect choice. the GTR is a great car, and it has a ton fo things that you didn't experience owning before, JDM, FI, AWD, reliable :P and there isnt a new shape coming in next year.
ok Im all over the place, to keep it short, sell the M5 and buy a GTR.

GTR is not easy to maintain and I bet everyone here who owns one will agree

Gluck with ur quest and like I told u last week Porsche is the car of your ready to take it to the next level other than that the M is unique, practical and perfect the way it is

$27,000 my friend. But, if something goes wrong with the tranny and he has warranty, there is nothing to worry about. If he does not have warranty duo to mods and breaks the tranny, it wont cost 27K for a new one. It will cost 4000BD for an upgraded gearbox that can handle over 800whp including labor and a guy flying from New Zealand to do the fix and transmission relearning..

Thats what i do, i get all the stuff online, take her to SMS. It will cost you half of what you pay at the dealer.
example
OEM oil costs 50BD a Liter. Online costs $50, you need 10L of it. The oil i use in the tranny costs $750 and its not OEM. - Every 5000miles i change the tranny oil, but you can use the oil for 14000 miles and the OEM as well.
Engine oil at the dealer for 350BD using Mobile 1 0W-40. I use Motul 15W-50 for winter, and 20W-60 for Summer time. I change this every 3000 miles. Can go upto 5000 miles depending on how you drive the car.
Brake pads at the dealers, bd300+ for the fronts, 200+ for the rears. If you crack the rotors, they will change the whole kit for BD2400. My brake pads are Ferodo's, costs $600 for all pads and AP Racing Rotors for $2800, J-Hooks.

just someting i had in a bookmark
Issue of a high repair bill for a low speed front impact on a GT-R
I consider myself a fairly competent driver, I can drive reasonably quickly on a circuit, and read the road ahead enough to make good progress on the public highway. But I had an accident, and it was all my own doing.
I had a low speed crash into the back of a white van, it was a badly surfaced road, we were stopped, pulled away.... and the person infront of the van stopped for no reason, causing the van to tap the tow bar of the car infront and me in sympathy to do the same to the van.
Ok enough of the excuses, I am posting here to make sure noone makes the same mistake I did. I thought long and hard about posting this, but i think it is important that other GTR owners see this so they aren't stung by a careless accident and the GTR Tax!
I bumped into tho the white vans tow bar causing this small crack in my bumper...
http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/3595/32213678.jpg
Unfortunately it also set off the Pedestrain Saftey system, where the bonnet pops up....
http://img687.imageshack.us/img687/83/86632178.jpg
Which is a one use system....
http://img687.imageshack.us/img687/5530/59418275.jpg
You need to replace the bumper, rams, bonnet hinges....
http://img691.imageshack.us/img691/9562/93260998.jpg
nd of course the ECU
When the accident happened i called my dealer and asked them to collect the car and told them i would just pay for it without putting it through my insurance.
Then i found out the total cost of the repairs.
Eleven Thousand Pounds.
I'm pleased to report the car has been repaired perfectly, even if it took 5 weeks!
But I fear GTR insurance won't be so cheap next year for any of us. Sorry about that! But don't do what I did. And if you hit a pedestrain, make sure you are reveresing
