I'm stranded in the UK!!
I was due to fly out on Friday 15th April, the Iceland Volcano eurpted and ALL FLIGHTS were Cancelled out of the UK.
I re-booked our tickets to Monday 19th, but now THAT seems to be also going to be Cancelled..I have priorities to attend to in Bahrain and my wife cant get back to work, my daughter is going to miss school, etc.
This doesnt seem to be a short time thing as only Allah swt know how long it will take for the volcano ash to move away..it may take 6 months!
Now Emirates are saying that maybe saturday next week...im just kinda fustrated

make the best out of it bro. rent a car, drive 2500km all the way to Istanbul over a couple of days and enjoy the European roads and scenery along the way. then take a flight from there to Bahrain.
Or take a ferry to Portugal, drive all the way to Morocco, and then fly back

If I were there. I will choose option 2 !!
Will take a ferry to Portugal, drive all the way to Morocco, and spend the rest of my life in Morocco !!!!

Charles du gual is closed bro.. France/Germany/Holland all closed and i dont have a Visa to cross the border..i did think of a cruise ship but its like £980 x 3 so it aint worth it. We own a house here so im not stuck in the airport thank god..The thing is they keep saying today by 7am they will open, then they postpone it to 1pm the next day..@ the moment all Emirates flights for tomorrow leaving @ 2pm local time is cancelled.
I read on Sky news website that it will take 5 day for the air to clear AFTER the Volcanco stops spitting the ash...but the Volcano is still going according to reports so who knows?

No bro, our house is in N.Wales (the best place to ride a bike..in terms of roads..but not cops :(..) and we travel from Manchester airport..

Yeah bro i was watching the Pilot who got caught in one in 1982..he said all of a sudden 4 of the engines cut off and the plane gulided for 90miles and dropped to 12000ft..the front windshield only 2inches from the bottom was clear to see..and just as they lost hope..the engines came back on and they "kissed" the ground as he said it..
Doing some reading about it, and it says that air-craft engines cannot really stand heat and this ash if it slows or stops the engine in the air will melt engine components...Is that rite? something like that..no wonder its -45 when ur in the air..

So I'll see you when I see you......btw..........if you want someone to ride and maintain your bikes for you all you have to do is ask :)

Spend some quality time with the family and wait for this all to blow over, everyone in Europe is scrambling for alternatives and its honestly not worth the hassle, its an act of nature/god so you really cant do anything about it. Just come back in one piece :)

BikeMaster, while u r there, u might as well have the time to apply for British Passport...At least the wait wud be worth it...hahaha...
Jan the hazards of volcanic ash is severe. It forms crystals on the blades and starts damaging them and then chokes the engines and damaging the interior. Not only that. It can cost tens of millions to repair the plane that has encountered the ash, if it survives it though...Modern radars fitted in planes cant detect the ash, so u can be in a nice smooth flight and then suddenly u encounter moderate to severe turbulence, with fumes in the cabin and then the engines surging and all of a sudden flame out..The British Airways flight in 82 over Indonesia lost their engines at nearly 40,000 ft and they glided for a long time while the pilots were trying their best to restart them. God was on ther side when they managed to start one engine at 12000 ft and then the rest started. But the plane suffered damages over 80 million dollars...
So bro, be thankful u r stuck in a civilised country and not Afghanistan. Weather is improving and Wales is great...Just enjoy it and i will be happy to run ur bikes here for ya...
See u soon jeegar

Those fumes seem to be coming towards the Middle East. Any chance Bahrain will be affected?

wallah its possible...depends on the wind velocity and direction. But had it been in winter the jetstreams wud have brought them faster towards us..On another note, hope u had a great nite last nite amigo...

Great is a word too weak to describe lastnight. I came home with the biggest grin on my face :)
And I hope the ashes don't come down here. In a way I do, because then we won't be doing anything at work lol but then again, we might be in more trouble because we will be asked to clear all the MDDs and ADDs while they have the time :duh:

lol, na..its easier applying for one in Bahrain i guess coz here u need to take tests, etc..This is the first time weather has been great here since we arrived..its not too cold..no rain..not strong wind..so im doing garden work in the back yard..but i really jus wanna get to Bahrain :(
Sky News put the pilot on and yeah it seemed no hope was in sight bas subhan-allah hu..on another note, a 737 KLM flight with scientist have been flying @ 20000ft near the Volcano to collect samples (???) and see and access..My Monday flight has been cancelled and all flights are stopped until @ least Saturday is the lastest Update @ this end.
Is Bahrain affected thou bro or u still flying?
ahh my bikes, it would be great to have them here..u know the roads in Wales are one of the best for Riding but the COPS here are just so spot on..u can fart without them being on top of you which takes out the fun.. 70mph is the limit..The next best place is South of France..long twisty roads and the cops are more friendly and less in number in that area..here thou..not worth it unless i take them to track. i was riding here last year one of my wife's relatives bikes bas he sold it now and is looking for another.
Lol, afgan is cheaper thou than paying nearly £7.00 for cigs and over £60 for fuel..
God Bless and take care bro

It seems like this one might take that long..its still spitting out..Airlines are saying its costing them £2 million a DAY!!..if it lasts that long.without a soloution.i dont think we will have airlines anymore..

Aah Bahrain..no news from it yet..i was thinking to contact them in case i need help with the Visa issue..I dont think they will do much thou..The Saudi embassy is paying for ANY Saudi who is stranded in terms of Hotels and giving them daily allowances until they can get them home..too bad Bahrain government isnt doing Anything to help its citizens..i guess they perfer to look and BAN things that will not assist us in the immediate future..lol.
Still im willing to give it a shot and see if this keeps on after a week or so.

IM BACK!
Good to be back home,..my actual home..I dont think i can live in the UK..ever! Everysingle thing is Over-priced and the government takes u for every cent u have..council tax..income tax..road tax..WTF? the more money u make there..the more % the government takes from u..until it reaches 40%.
Plus the food disposal system really sucks there..after paying £80 council tax, the garbage man comes once every 2 weeks to take certain items only.
He comes for wasted food..once every two weeks and u can only put out a certian size box (like a laptop size box) if larger they refuse to collect it and can fine u. Oh and u have to store it till they come or else they will fine u £250.
He comes once every so often for re-cyclable only..and u have to wash them for him, yani u can eat out of a beans can and throw it..no..u have to wash it then put it in.
The price of cigs has gone to £6.13 for a pack..
Its just over the top..Im really glad to be outta there!

He forgot to mention, if you don't take the garbage bin outside on the side of the street for them to empty it, they won't bother walking onto your porch to get it. So then you have to figure out how the fcuk your going to store the trash for another 2 weeks.
Bury it in the garden :)
