Quick: What's the fastest production sedan in the world? Does it wear a Mercedes-Benz, Audi or BMW badge? What about the Porsche Panamera Turbo or the Cadillac CTS-V? There's no doubt that each of these vehicular behemoths is capable of ripping off some fast times on a race track near you, but Subaru is out to prove that its new 2011 WRX STI sedan has the chops to keep pace with the best from the rest of the world.

According to reports, the vehicle used in this testing was equipped with a few significant upgrades including a larger turbocharger that normally sees duty in the Japanese R205 model and some lightweight aluminum bits, but one thing is for certain: the 7:55 lap time is a mighty impressive result.

This is a MAJOOOOOOOOOOR improvement compared to the hatchback.. Now, I can officially say that I love the new STIs... It just looks way more aggressive like the good old days with the widened front!

I just watched the video... @ 1:08 + 6:16 I've never seen a video in which someone actually takes those jumps FULL THROTTLE... and he made the nurburgring look like an SS Rally Course!!!

what's the difference between WRX and WRX STI..? and what's the difference in terms of performance? i heard the hatch only comes with 265hp, while the sedan comes in 305hp.

can someone shed some light over here?

STi has the bigger brakes, bigger turbo, stiffer susp. etc etc

wrx is "sporty" but not hardcore

yeah it will come in both

sooooo with a larger turbo and some weight reduction it tops out at 250?? thats a little sad considering that my stock gti hits 245, but what is impressive is the cornering speed, it carries so much speed in and through the corner without the typical 4wd cars nose washing out before the apex causing you to miss your clipping point. another thing you notice is how the driver dosent gently lean the car into the corner because the stis are known for their under-steer but he throws it in the corner shifting the weight rapidly and causing turn in over-steer that takes some balls but i guess hes got plenty of that.
