In case you havent heard...

It was a breakthrough achievement when COBB Tuning rolled out their updated AccessPORT product with proportional boost gain control (RPM based boost control). The GT-R tuning industry were finally able to navigate the hump of boost spikes that had been holding back the basic bolt on tuning scene to that point.

Now we’ve heard that Cobb have taken boost control on their AccessPORT product to the next level with the ability to limit boost by gear and throttle position. They say this will give the tuner ultimate control over boost to prevent undesirable spikes or bursts of acceleration mid-corner when the throttle is only partly applied.

Gear and Throttle Wastegate Multiplier:

The gear and throttle wastegate multiplier is a gear and throttle position-dependent boost control strategy that behaves like traction control. However, instead of using the brakes and other conventional drivetrain-based methods to limit wheel spin, the ECU alters wastegate duty cycle to limit turbo spool. This in turn limits toque and power output effectively limiting low-end torque and wheel spin.

To go with this new development, the included canned maps are updated and if you’re using an included map you should flash your car’s ECU with one of these updates. On the other hand if you’re running a custom tune, you’ll need to consult your tuner for a new map that takes advantage of this updated capability.

-------

Also, send out your existing Cobb AP's to Cobb ( or buy the new version ) for the new Transmission software upgrade. This cannot be downloaded.

With the transmission software upgrade you can:

Relearn the tranmission
Adjust clutch points and capacities
Raise rev limit
Raise Launch control to 5K
Revert back to LC1, LC2, LC3
And more...

I'll remove the EVC6 in a few days. Any one interested?

actually everytime i see Q's signature makes me love my Z more .. it just feels awesome being in the mind of all those amazing tuners and a privilege to have the Z06 as a comparison method of power :bounce:

makin a speicial tune just for the Z in the menu makes it all worth while

:thanks: Q :up2:

I understand that feeling, it's exactly when every car wants to race or compare against the gtr.

yup the only difference is that the GTR is brand new, super cars were being compared to the Z06 since 2006 can u imagine how long that was .. then they ditched it for the ZR-1 :bounce:

its the GT-R era now thats for sure :headbang:

2012 Z06's and Camaros are gonna start a hastle again as they will come supercharged right from the dealer with the ZR1 suspension tech .. both gonna hit the 600HP list and guess what gonna still be the same price

the ecv6 can do that already, its a standalone boost controller, you can set the boost level based on tps or speed. all you need is the evc writer software and someone who can tune it for you, i guess its not that hard at all to tune.

I thought you know that already, thats why the price tag for the evc is higher than the normal boost controller. IMO i would go with evc6 rather than the acces port, you dont need to flash the ecu and wait for 15min just to raise the boost. i like the other upgrades for the acces port, but i wont remove the evc if i was in your shoes.

Most big powered GTR's all went RPM based controlled and are all going for this update, the EVC6 creates lots of spike in the GTR even when its tuned correctly. For me, controlling the boost via the ECU is much better, faster, boost goes all the way up and stays there until redline. With the EVC6 boost drops near redline even when equipped with aftermarket actuators.

My Cobb is equipped with this update and i tried out a new map today, the difference is noticeable, no wheel spin, top end has increased by 4KM/H. Redline is raised a tiny bit. The way it puts down the power is what i like vs the EVC6 when having a spirited drive. The only good thing i saw in the EVC6 is it makes the turbos spool quicker when im on 5th or 6th gear.

Ohh the old golden days, a big single, any manual boost controller or electronic, big injectors, boost and GO .... !

Long live the RB26, long live simplicity !
