Ahhh yeah yeah.. i see it now..
i was looking at the bottom of the seats.. it looked funny..
EK (or anyone else with a theory for that matter),
we know that the M3 and the CTSV both drop in price like keys from a learjet...
and in Bahrain, the lexus brand as well as the IS holds it's value quite well...
do you think the IS-F will be the same?
or due to it's sports car nature(something unusual for the lexus brand) the market for IS-F buyers will be smaller? (and therefore 2nd hand demand on an IS-F will be less than the types who buy an IS300)
or to simplify my question..
will an IS-F deprciate more or less than an IS300 % wise

its all linked to supply demand.. if the car is in demand.. the price wont drop as fast.
now, thats not the case with the IS-F, since the IS300's demand is driven by a plethoura of demographics and age groups in both males and females, the IS-F will surely have a smaller market.
in this case, its up to supply to drive the price of the IS-F.. since the supply wont be as high, the demand can still be much smaller and still hold the same equilibrium.
another factor that went into the IS300 holding its price is the price increase at the Dealer, when the IS300 was first introduced.. it was selling for 13-14k, 2 years later.. the price suddenly increased to 17,800
anyone in his right mind would therefore look at the second hand market, which presents us with two results or.. scenarios.. increase in demand for second hand IS300's, and an increase in a "automobile opportunity cost" for the current IS300 owner.
the opportunity cost has 2 major drivers in the automobile market.. other cars of the same Genre, same price.. or, newer model of the same car. when both them are considerably higher.. the shared denominator, in this case the IS300's second hand value remains unchanged.

Notice the shift knob is missing? That's either cause it was stolen, or dealer removed to avoid theft! :laf:
I just replaced mine with the F Sport one, it's BD50 and very easy to replace!

same hp as usa 416hp
the hp did not change since all gcc have good fuel and less sulfar in them
they can change there tune only for bahrain
in every 10,000km we have to clean the injectors or add injector cleaners from time to time
its the same case with all direct fuel injection cars in bahrain from porsche to bmw and now lexus
they have to change the fuel in bahrain at least with less sulfar

I agree with what ur saying in principle
but the IS300 is not an exception..
all of the Toyota's and Lexus's tend to hold their value in bahrain..because the dealer is EKK
look at when Subaru was taken over by EKK... their sales went from 0 in a year to 10-12 cars a month...
the car didn't change.. the dealer did...
so the point is, when EKK sells it the demand follows it...
but even then...
it's not like german and american cars don't have demand in bahrain.. and the still depreciate like crazy...
even porsche's don't seem immune to it anymore...
u can get a 997 turbo for under 30K now...
remember when the Z06 came out it started at 25k new.. now it's 30k..
currency fluctuantions in the yen also added to the price hikes for the IS.. and the dollar got pwnd internationally didn't help
as for the ISF
it's sporty.. but not THAT sporty.. when compared to the M3.. (which is harder stiffer lighter heavier steering, not an auto etc)
and in bahrain.. ppl love big engines...
GS430 over 300
S500 over S350
750 over 735
they just want to have the highest number badge on the back of the car
ppl might buy the ISF just cuz it has "8 cylinders"
who knows they might sell more IS-F's if they badge it as a IS-500 LOL

the price jumped is because of one factor
when the car was launched the yen was around 118 to 122
now the yen is around 87 to 90 the currency jumped an average 24 percent
and from year model every year the manufacture adds 1.5 percent in some cases
and the car had a face lift last year which added a value of 750 with rear led lights and new front bumper and fog light and re designed grill plus small changes in interior

though i didnt say that the increase was uncalled for, rather.. i just stated the fact that it did in fact happen.

i know man
but just before anybody says why the prices of lexus and toyota went higher for the past 2.5 years , i gave them the answer
and i'm sure we have bankers in the forum , they can verify that
the currency went up 20 to 25 percent , which is huge this comparing to 2008
if we compare to 2006 it went higher 30 percent
just for information

u do know that the GS430, s500 and 750 are harder to sell than their smaller engine siblings right?
considering their original price, they endure a much higher depreciation rate.
example.. the price difference between a new GS430 and GS300 is around 7-8k, while on the second hand market, theyre sometimes priced within 500BD difference.
people who can afford to buy a new car would opt for the bigger engine because they might want the options that come with it, performance and status.. while people who are looking for a second hand car think of difference factors such as fuel consumption, availability and price of parts, etc. which are not necessarily cheaper, but.. thats how the mind thinks in this part of the world.

I visit the lexus forums alot, and almost every one in the USA suffers from fuel problems! Most of them run on 91 octane fuel, some others run on 93. But they all suffer from carbon build-up!
Direct Fuel Injection cars are forcing countries to clean up their fuels like Europe and Japan!
Kayman

One easy way to get rid of the carbon buildup in DFI's is to drive the car hard :D
