The 2012 GT-R (2011 JDM) is in the final stages of pre-launch preparation and we’ve received tips from sources close to Nissan regarding the final look of the new GT-R. Above you can see many of the GT-Rs new cosmetic external updates that we’ve already noticed while pouring over spy shots from Nurburgring. It’s finally confirmed though that the new GT-R will feature LED driving lights/daytime running lights integrated into the front fascia. Yes these are not photoshops.

http://www.gtrblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/gtrblog-gtr35-2-006-540x163.jpg

Along with the driving lights you can see the shape of the canards themselves is different to previous model years this change plus other changes from a reworking and restyling of the front bumper have improved the GT-R’s already stunning aerodynamic performance. By the numbers, the GT-R’s coefficient of drag (Cd) drops from 0.272 to 0.268. Combine that with a rear downforce improvement of 10% thanks to a redesigned rear diffuser and the GT-R continues to redefine what is possible for today’s supercar.

Most noticible on the photos though is the new blue. The official (tentative still) name for the blue is Aurora Flare Blue Pearl (color code RAY) but what you can’t tell from this photo is that the GT-R gets a new black too. The updated black is officially (but again, tentatively) called Nebula Opal Black (color code GAG). These two colors represent the only body color changes for the 2012 GT-R base and premium models.

Speaking of base and premium models, earlier speculation that the base model goes away was partly true, the base model GT-R is now named the Pure Edition, but the features remain the same. To go with the changes comes a small increase in pricing. Starting with the Pure edition which is hit with a 80,000 yen bump to 8,694,000 yen. The Premium edition receives a larger bump of 210,000 yen to 9,450,000 yen in Japan.

Let’s try not to get too distracted by those minor negatives though because there’s a wealth of positives going on here. Take the new wheels for example, each new Rays forged aluminium wheel cuts 3 kg (6.6lbs) off the GT-R’s unsprung weight – a total of 12 kg (26.4 lbs) around the car. So they’re lighter but they also manage to be stiffer too to improve steering response and feedback. Lastly, the wheels are available in two colors starting next year, an attractive 3 layer ultra deep paint process known as Hyper Blue Black and a Hyper Titanium color (which looks bronze to me).

i dont like , i wished they offerd manuel transmission , changed the steering wheel , better seats trim , adjusted the dront console , change the front bumper , offerd a sport exhaust option with a button , roll cage option , reverse camera standard , carbon fiber interior option
if all those were done i will sell mine and get a new one , even if there is a price increase

Wait for the EVO/LM version. Will be sold in 2013.
The track version is available for purchase now with less weight and roll cage.
CF comes in the Spec V
Interior customization will be out in 2012 for the Spec M. ''build your own''

Im a partner and sponsor of Nagtroc Middle East. I get inside info from the owners of Nagtroc and GTRBlog.com

There will be faster and better cars than the GTR for sure, the EVO/LM version will be a track spec'd street car to rival the GT2RS.

Thats great news about the Supra!!

EVO/LM , what the hell is that ? you mean mitsubishi EVO

but i believe supra will be powerd by hybrid

i hate hybrid ,

i hope since they have the supra name for this car , i want it to compete with GTR not the nissan Z370

p.s. rx7 will be out , this car is a must in my list if it comes in a turbo version

Yea, the hybrid.... But if they adapt the same hybrid tech that Porsche is using on the 918 then im sold.

The EVO/LM version is a GTR on cocaine.

The RX7 is going to be a beast aswell. And i hope they stick to their routes with the Rotary and improve it.

Word on the street is that she will be packin' 520hp.
Wheels are 6.6lbs lighter per corner ( 20lbs each ). That's a lot of unsprung weight!
Brake upgrade is coming as well, and will be lighter than the current ones.

Pointed out the important stuff to read. Lots of interesting info.

In evaluating what Nissan has done, it’s important to remember what the GT-R is and what the GT-R offers. There’s no other way to evaluate the improvements in the underlying car.

Starting with the chassis, the new R35 features a number of core chassis revisions.

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t193/streetseen/Nissan_GTR/DBA-R35/front-rein1.jpg

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t193/streetseen/Nissan_GTR/DBA-R35/front-rein2.jpg

The most significant of the chassis improvements is reinforcement on the front end of the car. The forward suspension strut towers have been structurally strengthened with carbon and aluminum materials. This increase in rigidity will help improve the joint stiffness, which in turn will improve the accuracy and directness of the cars response.

The front caster angle has been increased, from 5°30 to 6°00, in an effort to improve steering feel and stability.

10mm increase in the size of the front rotors, bringing them to 390mm.

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t193/streetseen/Nissan_GTR/DBA-R35/suspension.jpg

Exhaust side is said to feature a larger final section. There is no confirmation yet regarding any other engine or transmission tweaks, so we’ll have to wait for more on that.

The first is the recently uncovered Bridgestone Potenza RE070R R2 tires, which are already available in limited quantities. But the second is a new specification of Dunlops, called Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT 600 DSST CTT.

Wheels are 13KG's each.

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t193/streetseen/Nissan_GTR/DBA-R35/wheel2.jpg

The GTR will be introduced with a fourth version of Launch Control, which we can all now call LC4. LC4 holds the RPM’s at 4,000rpm before unleashing its “significantly” improved torque on the tarmac. This time, Nissan says you’ll be able to accelerate and utilize grip to the “maximum degree.” Zero to sixty times have improved they say.

One interesting feature now enabled in the DBA-R35 is the ability to temporarily put the GT-R in 2WD mode. All you have to do is hold the transmission switch downward on fuel save mode (where snow mode used to be) for 4 seconds. The GT-R will then go rear drive only. It will be interesting to see how this feature will be used and what’s possible with it.

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t193/streetseen/Nissan_GTR/DBA-R35/interior2.jpg

On the inside of the car, things are the same with a couple notable exceptions.

Within the instrument cluster, the trip computer is now blue instead of red. Elsewhere on the instrument panel, Nissan has added a real carbon fiber trim panel to the HVAC switchgear location and changed the knobs used. Of course, many have already done the former modification themselves via the aftermarket. Other interior changes include a softer seatbelt material with adjustments to tension and intensity, tweaks to the appearance of the GT-R logo on the steering wheel, as well as a new texture for the metal trim on the air conditioning vents as well as steering wheel paddles.

Bu Fahad, do not let the materialistic luxuries of life tempt you into sadness and despair. Have faith in your Allah and the Holy Book he has brought upon you and your fellow muslims, and you will see where the real luxuries of life lay!

Do not be blinded from the truth.. and the truth is clear! Health, Faith and Happiness from within yourself out, not from outside within!

2012 Nissan R35 GT-R Details Continue to Leak Prior to Late 2010 Official Launch – Spec-M Details Inside

http://www.gtrblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/gtrblog-gtr35-2-007.jpg

As we learn more about the upcoming model refresh we’re surprised again at how much Nissan is changing. The car changes so much in fact that the model designator is changing too, so long CBA-R35 – meet the DBA-R35.

The DBA-R35 is available in a truly astonishing number of variaties, more than we probably thought we’d see just 3 years ago when the CBA-R35 first launched. With the 2012 model comes updates to the Spec-V Nissan GT-R as well. It receives all of the cosmetic frills that will even further compliment with it’s range topping hardware underpinnings. As predicted though it is no longer the most most expensive street GT-R money can buy as, with the right options ticked, the new 2012 Spec-M ultra luxury Nissan GT-R edges it out in some ways.

What we can tell by the information that’s been leaked to us so far is the Spec-M will command a high price tag after all. I was hoping that rumors to the contrary were true and that the Spec-M would be priced sort of closer to the Premium GT-R ballpark but it winds up being more like SpecV ballpark. Let’s compare the pricing below for the known current and 2012 variants of the Nissan DBA-R35 GT-R:

Pure Edition 8,694,000
Black Edition 9,303,000
Premium Edition 9,450,000
Club Track Edition 10,479,000 (plus member fees etc)
SpecM 15,000,300
SpecV 15,750,000
S-Tec GT-R (ST1 EVO) 23,000,000 (approx)

You can see that the smallest of options is going to bump that Spec-M price over the Spec-V and we still don’t have a list of hardware inclusions in the Spec-M to justify it. What we do know is:

The official name for the Spec-M is not final, whether it is called the Spec-M at launch is yet to be decided
Official announcement of the Spec-M is scheduled for 18th October 2010
Official launch will take place at Nissan HQ in Yokohama on 17th November 2010
One new exclusive body color – Ultimate Opal White (QAG color code)
Interior color choices are wild, see the below list of color choices.

Interior Color Choices for Spec-M:
Lower Section:

Muelheim Brown
GT Black
R-Red
Ruhr White
Caramel Beige
Espresso Brown
Cointreau Orange
Aqua Gray
Shadow Gray
Sakura

Upper Section:

Muelheim Brown
GT Black
R-Red
Ruhr White

Stiching Colors:

Brown
Black
Red
White
Gray
Beige

As far as option packages go, we don’t have all the details there, suffice to say interior color options are included in the Spec-M price tag as well as a BOSE sound system. However three levels of additional upgrade BOSE sound systems are available at a price tag of approximately 1,200,000 yen.

So that’s got you up to date with the Spec-M details. We’ll be keeping our ear to the ground for more as it comes in but I for one am keen to see how a Sakura colored interior will look in a GT-R

One of most interesting new things about this new GTR is the 2WD mode... can you say drifting??? :D

But im sure once you activate 2WD mode you wont be able to go VDC OFF, only R mode.

Still nothing new on this mode, once i get some info regarding this i will post it here.

Cobb already has a hack for this mode for the '09, 10 & 11 models ;)

The updated set up switches... with the word SAVE in blue instead of the SNOW in green .... you press that down for 4 seconds and bingo 2WD mode... what exactly you can/cannot /should/shouldnt do in that mode... i have no clue..... also worth noting you can see the close up of the carbon weave HVAC plate and the redesigned knobs.

one last thing worth noting in this pic is for the VDC switch you can see that something like "..... OFF" ( i am going to guess VDC OFF) appears to be actually written on the switch itself in addition to "OFF" beside it

Well we did mention that the SpecM name was tentative and today we’ve heard another rumor from sources close to Nissan that the R35 GT-R “Gentleman’s Edition” will launch in the Japanese market as the Nissan GT-R Egoist. While the name seems insane to us it’s not too far outside the bounds of Japanese naming schemes so that we’d completely rule it out.

The SpecM nameplate is likely to be kept in markets outside Japan however so don’t completely cross it off your wish list just yet…

On the topic of rumors from sources close to Nissan Japan, here’s another we’ve just heard. Those folks hopeful that 520ps is the new peak power figure for the 2012 GT-R might be surprised to learn they can expect to be dissapointed. After seeing this figure making its way around blogs and forums one might start quoting it as fact by now but to this date no figure has appeared either officially or leaked. In the true spirit of it not being over ’til the fat lady sings, we’re now told by our reliable sources that 530ps – 540ps is more accurate.
