The 4G63 has really come of age in the EVO VIII. Factory rated at 273 hp, the beauty of this powerplant is how willingly it responds to tuning tweaks. A set of staged HKS cams oversees valvetrain events. Vivid employs a 272-degree bumpstick on the exhaust side and a 264-degree unit on the intake side, with HKS adjustable cam gears fine-tuning the combo.

One of the highlights on the EVO is its HKS Kansai Service carbon-fiber intake box. The Kansai unit mimics the stock unit, but has a wider inlet and a more direct route for intake air to flow. The Kansai intake is also fitted with a high-flow filter from RMR.

Vivid racing installed a JIC header to increase flow into the hot side of the stock Mitsubishi TD05HRA-16G turbo. Boost is controlled by an HKS EVC and fuel tuning is executed by an A'PEXi S-AFC.

The A'PEXi S-AFC fuel computer and Blitz AC meters further enhance the interior.

The stars of the show in the cockpit are the Ralliart carbon shift panel that sits atop the center console and the clever installation of the HKS EVC unit and Clarion head unit controller. A B&M shifter speeds gear selection.

Body tuning consists of full C-West armor, JDM taillights, Ganador mirrors, Monster Sport carbon trunk, C-West carbon hood, JDM antenna and JDM Evolution badging.

The interior has been dressed with J-spec Bride racing bucket seats, Tanaka harnesses and much attention to detail.

The exhaust system consists of a Monster Sport downpipe, Perrin cat delete pipe and a cat-back JIC titanium exhaust system.

The EVO's footwork has been enhanced via JIC FLTA2 coil-overs, Rigid front and rear strut bars, and Cusco anti-roll bars all around, fitted with Perrin links. The final factors in the adhesion equation are BFGoodrich g-Force KDW tires and Advan RG wheels. A four-wheel StopTech brake upgrade also quickens the EVO's step.
