View Full Version : My tranny died today....

I was on my way to pick up my daughter when my tranny died on me on the highway. I got Kaween to install a TCI pro super tranny overhaul kit and the clutches burnt!!
Although i thought he was full of $hit miskeen he told me that it wouldnt last very long with the shift kit i had ordered. So much for the Yanks knowing what they were doing..."we have the same shift kit on our 700whp trans am and its a daily driver" says a red neck!!
Oh well, atleast i have something to do at work tomorrow :) Might as well install the heads and the rest of the stuff while i am at it.

Sorry to hear that, hope you learned heheh.
Just today someone was asking me about the TCI kit for the 4l60-e.
If you don't mind me asking, how much did you get it for? Plus installation?
What's the shift kit story?

Man am sure sumthin went wrong, I had my gear rebuilt last January and its still working fine, well it is always expected from an 4L60E. I had read a lot about it and I discovered that even if you install new stock clutches (brog warner) the gear should be fine, it all depends on the mechanic who rebuilds the tranny and the way he closed it up. The best person in Bahrain to my knowledge is kaween and you should have listened to him :P I personally never had my gear done at his work shop.

yeah i remember some one told me i'm better off with stock clutches, cuz if the oil leaked and i had sports clutches they'd go straight away, but not the stock ones.

i tried kaween for my c5, and m3ammar for my lumina... both of them ran strong without problems. I can vouch for both
if kaween told you it won't last, than he is not blame i guess. I asked both of them to buy whatever parts they recommend. Mine had 7 3-4 BW clutches, JET billet servo, transgo shiftkit, aluminum 2nd piston accumulator, stock unmodified drum, sprag and break band.

Thanks guys!
I think this time i'll just take it to Kaween and tell him build me a bullet proof transmission and call me when its done.
I think i am going to get rid of my vigilante torque converter and reinstall the stock one, the 7ana was driving me crazy!! What do you guys think?

^^ take it out and put another lower stall converter a cammed car needs converter otherwise it will be very heavy and slow in low end torque

Update: I sent my tranny to M3ammar and he is going to give me a quote tomorrow on a "wa7sh" tranny build. My transmission had the following problems..Clutches gone, solenoid was bust and one of the shift kit components had something wrong with it.

Give him my regards and ask for the same parts if you really need a stout 4l6o.
