Longest Horizontal Power Slide
The longest ever horizontal power slide in a car lasted 2 hours 11 minutes 18 seconds and was performed by Britain's Simon de Banke on July 29, 2001, at the wet-grip circle at the MIRA Proving Ground, Nuneaton, Warwickshire, UK.
Simon drove a standard Subaru Impreza WRX 2001 on a surface of Bridgeport pebbles, which, when wet, are designed to have similar handling charateristics to compacted snow. To set the Guinness World Record, Simon was required to keep the car in a constant power slide ? without spinning, straightening up or changing lane ? for 15 minutes... although he managed to sustain this for well over 2 hours!

The one-mile (1.609-km) land speed record is 1,227.985 km/h (763.055 mph), set by Andy Green in Thrust SSC in the Black Rock Desert, Nevada, USA, on October 15, 1997. Thrust SSC (Super Sonic Car) completed its record-breaking run in a matter of seconds, but was the culmination of six years of work and a six-week on-site campaign. Two and a half years of research went into the shape of the Thrust SSC, and building the most powerful car ever took a further two years and 100,000 man-hours.

Dubai businessman Suhail Mohammed Al Zarooni is mad about model cars. Some of his cars are so rare that they're worth more than the original full-size versions! His favorites are 1960s models such as classic cars, police cars, sports cars, and limousines. He's been collecting since 1950 and his stash of tiny autos is worth over $3 million!

The lowest car is a radically modified Austin Mini, named "Lowlife" by its creator, Perry Watkins of Aylesbury, England.
Measuring 60 cm (24 in) from the ground to roof, with 2.5-cm (1-in) ground clearance, it was completed in October 1999. Despite its diminutive size, the project cost $15,800. It took 18 months to plan and a further three years to build. Based around a 1967 Austin Mini, parts of a further three Mini bodies were welded into the final shell.

Kevin Cole of Carlsbad, New Mexico, USA, holds the record for the longest spaghetti strand blown out of a nostril in a single blow. On December 16, 1998, Kevin successfully achieved a record distance of 19 cm (7.5 in) on the set of Guinness World Records: Primetime in Los Angeles, California, USA. Kevin first started practicing his nasal ejection with Ramon noodles and then progressed onto spaghetti. He has the ability to blow one end of the spaghetti out of one nostril, and the other end out of the other nostril for a "nasal floss" effect.

The farthest a marshmallow has been blown out of one nostril and caught in the mouth of a catcher is 4.96 m (16 ft 3.5 in), by launcher Scott Jeckel of Delavan, Illinois, USA, and catcher Ray Perisin of Peoria, Illinois, USA, on the set of Guinness World Records: Primetime in Los Angeles, California, USA on August 13, 1999.
What did "mouth-catcher" Ray do after intercepting the munchy missile? He swallowed it, of course! He doesn't mind being on the receiving end of the airborne nostril candy. "I just try not to think about where the marshmallow's being fired from," he says.

eople say Paul Hunn?s burps are as loud as a pneumatic drill, or an aircraft taking off. Paul, from London, UK, knows one thing?s for sure, his burps can certainly be heard over the music in a nightclub.
On April 5, 2000, to prove he?s the biggest belcher on earth, he competed live on British TV and blew away the opposition with a record-breaking burp measuring 118.1 decibels.
Paul would love to throw caution to the wind and burp as loud as he likes whenever, and wherever, he wants. However, he?s learned to control his draughty desires and only produces his piercing puffs of air on request. "I won?t do it in an inconvenient place, because people give you those ?you pig? looks," Paul reveals.
Eating spicy food, preferably Indian, is a good recipe for belting out bellowing belches, and Paul has his own winning technique. "I suck in some air, hold it in my stomach for a while, and when I feel it rising I force it out. The doctor says it?s not dangerous but that I shouldn?t do it too often, as it could damage a stomach muscle."This reminds us of our very own Red Z28 ... Member

Ken Edwards of Glossop, Derbyshire, England ate 36 cockroaches in one minute on the set of The Big Breakfast, London, England on 5 March 2001.
Ken is a retired ratcatcher and part-time entertainer who first took to the stage at age 18, but his talent for carrying out bizarre stage acts was unveiled on the British TV show Over The Top when he was 39. Ken's 47 rats-down-the-trouser trick caused such a stir that he became a celebrity overnight! His friends and family are now used to his freaky acts and Ken says, "If I were to actually do something normal then they would react!"
WANT TO KNOW MORE?
When Ken munches on his cockroaches, he says "It's like having an anesthetic at the back of the throat." This is due to the scent they let off to ward off predators! Tasty!
CHECK THIS OUT?
Cockroaches have lived unchanged for more than 320 million years. They are among the oldest fossil insects and are also among the most primitive living, winged insects. If a nuclear war broke out cockroaches would be the only living creatures to survive!
FIVE FASCINATING COCKROACH FACTS
1. In Australia there is an annual Cockroach Racing Championship. The winning roach scoops a top prize of $500.
2. A cockroach has at least 18 knees!
3. It can live for a month without a head!
4. Female cockroaches are larger than males because they produce and carry their eggs.
5. A lobster is often called the cockroach of the sea since it is a scavenger.

Saddam Hussein, who has been President of Iraq since 1979, has eight principal palaces plus other minor residences throughout Iraq. In Babylon, the "Butcher of Baghdad" has a palace built alongside the remains of the palace of Nebuchadnezzar II (620?562 BC) in which every brick is stamped with legends such as "The Leader, Saddam Hussein, Victor of Allah" and "At the era of President Saddam Hussein of Iraq, the protector of Great Iraq and reproducer of its reawakening and the builder of its civilization." New palaces were under construction in Baghdad and in Saddam's home town, Tikrit.
Since 1998, however, when the Iraqi leader denied United Nations arms inspectors access to the eight main presidential compounds ? which contain a total of 1,058 buildings ? an international crisis had developed.

Saddam Hussein, who has been President of Iraq since 1979, has appointed several members of his extended family to positions of power. Until 1995 one half-brother, Barzan Ibrahim, was Ambassador to the UN and in control of much of the vast family fortune. Another half-brother, Watban Ibrahim, was Minister of the Interior, and a third, Sabaoni Ibrahim, was Chief of General Security. Saddam's son-in-law, Saddam Kamal Hussein, was Commander of the Presidential Guard, but was executed in 1996. Saddam's sons, Udday and Qusay, both hold various state and other offices. The former was badly wounded in an assassination attempt in 1996 but is still considered Saddam's heir. The latter was in charge of Iraq's security until replaced by one of Saddam's in-laws.

"There should be a book to tell you how to handle it when people get thrown into the limelight," said the 56-year-old sewer and water contractor about the infamy the win has brought him and his family. "My wife swears she's going to write it. People aggravate her to death asking for money."

Vivian Wheeler of Wood River, Illinois, USA, grew a full beard after the death of her mother in 1990. The longest strand from the follicle to the tip of hair was measured at 27.9 cm (11 in) in 2000.
As a small child growing up, Vivian was always made to feel different. Her father insisted she started shaving at the age of 7 but this failed to stop the taunts. It was only after four marriages and her mother?s death in 1993 that she finally stopped trimming back the facial growth and let her beard grow.
She prefers to tie the beard up, which allows her to continue with her day-to-day routines. Currently the mother-of-three has joined a touring curiosity show based in Illinois and feels much happier with her life. She said: ?It really helped to have a Guinness World Record... it showed me I could be proud of being me. It made me feel like I had a chance in society.?
