twin turbo Porsche got ***** slapped

i found this very cool to read ,, its a race story between a 96 Camaro SS and a Twin Turbo Porsche .. below is the guys story grin


I drove my 96SS to work today, and on the way home I see a late model twin turbo Porsche a few cars ahead of me.

I see him getting on it a few times (sounded good), so I make my way up through traffic and pull up next to him.

Porsche- "You wanna try it?"

Me- "Lets do this"

Porsche- "You think you've got a chance?"

Me- "Uh, I don't think YOU have a chance"

Porsche- "Well, what did you do to that?"

Me- "Not much, it's got a turbo"

Porsche- "Oh, just one! ha ha"

Me- "Yep, just one"

Porsche- "You know I've done a few things to this"

I just shrugged my shoulders and told him to go ahead.

He got the leave on me, but I left about a hundred feet of rubber as I passed him in 2nd gear. He turned off soon after.

I tell ya, there's nothing better than ***** slapping a 100k+ dollar car with a cocky driver behind the wheel

I dont mean to offend anyone on here but a $30k car versus a $120k car is not something you should be proud of. So what if you pass a car that is more expensive then yours? doesnt mean that the car owner in the expensive car got ripped off or anything like that cause you passed him. Sorry for my first post being rude but I look at the the over all race results and look at the numbers and could care less about the car owners or what cars they drive.

I find it even more amusing that the person with a 700bhp+ car only gets 11.9 on the 1/4. he should be in the 10's.

maybe he got 2.74 and that is not good for a turbo car

or mabe he got 4.88 so the R.P.M will be high in 6 gear(that if he reach it in 1/4)

while a BONE STOCK 04 Z06 got 11.9 with 405 H.P

This is my first time on this forum... I am on LS1.com as well as impalaSSforum.

I have a 96 Impala SS with an LT1 I'm soon rebuilding been looking into twin turbo charging. But, I heard rumors that a single turbo actually out performs dual turbos.. not sure.. I'm no expert..

I wanted to post my 2 cents regarding this post.

As I said I have a 96 Impala SS. Only aftermarket mod is dual flowmaster exhaust... I raced an S600... and beat him on the highway... However, I figure a cpl things.. 1 he wasn't trying.. or 2. he's not confident in his driving to go as fast I as was.

I let off the gas at 135mph and he did not gain on me at all we ran it for about a mile on the highway before he turned off.

Not really a good story.. as the S600 does have a V12. And, I am sure he could have smoked me if he tried.

But regarding all the negative posts.... I've beaten 5.0's Z28s Audi a6's pimped out jettas... some vettes... it doesn't mean anything... my car is slow as molasis.

I mean honestly I can pick out a video of a moped that would smoke a WS6 TransAM.

Anyone can beat anyone on a given day. like the one guy posted... it's all about numbers...

I just watched a video of a Twin Turbo charged Firebird... got smoked out of the hole.. by a twin turbo mustang... but the firebird beat him in a 1/4.. with a 10.78 @ 138mph

what I'm dong with my car mods... etc.. I'm lookin at around 620hp at the fly. Not alot compared to some.. let alone the fact my car is 4200lbs.

The one post about the porsche being a super car is correct. And the guy with the z06 would give a porsche a run as well in 1/4 mile.. with it's 0-60 time bein like 3.9 s. the z06 is almost 1/2 the price of a porsche. by comparison.. but a vette isn't classified as super domestic car.

and honsestly.. the guy with the z06... have u heard of the GTR vette... 1000hp 1000ft/lbs... I'm willing to bet pinkslips.. it could prolly take a Ford GT90 or a McLaren F1.

Just my opinion.... would that not be a better race to see... a Vette vs an F1 or a GT90?

No internal damage just structual. Shattered headlight, crumpled hood, and mild dent in passenger side door. It'll be going into a pro-custom shop in michigan... My friends dad is an investor for the company so, I'll trust them to work on my car. Just need to convince insurance to go with it. They quoted me $4000 damage. I can fix it for $2000 or less. So, I need to haggle with insurance to pick the best course of action.. which is my course.. so I can get the aftermarket parts I want and fix my car at a far cheaper cost to them. :D

My car isn't anything special tho... 1996 Impala SS LT1 260hp 332ft/lbs, dual flowmaster exhaust, KnN air filter. After I get my car fixed.. I'm looking into some hooker headers, a new auto trans level 3 which is 2 steps up from the one I have now said to handle 700hp. Ripping out this POS 3.08 gear and putting in a 3.73. I'm adding KnN cold air intake, cutting the cat out completely. I am going to rebuild the engine, and if I can afford it.. bore it out to 383CI, adding a stroker 383 kit, pistons, crank.. etc. Altho, I'm starting to like FLP alot more.. the more i read about their parts... expensive but worth it imho. I also want to switch from FI to a Holly 850CFM carb. And, when i can afford to drop $5000 again... a ProCharger w/3 core intercooler.

My plans... as money and time allows that is.

I'm gonna race a 2005 Firebird with a 3.4 or a 3.8 V6... with SLP cold air induction kit.... My boys cousin.. been talkin smack to me about my car.. and how 8's really aren't that good... I need to humble him with my stock LT1 :D

They are putting out probably 800hp + or -.

If you honestly believe a 400hp 400ft/lbs 3000lbs car with all wheel drive is going to even come close to a 3000lbs 800 hp camaro. Then I have nothing further to say after this post. Because no matter what evidence I show you that you are wrong. It won't change your opinion which is not what my intention is... merely to prove a point of some people's ignorance.

I think it's 0-60 is like 5-6 seconds... 1/4 times i believe are 12-14's... just a guess without seeing the numbers.
