Pontiac G6 - Introduced at the Detroid MotorShow 2003
As a glimpse of things to come from Pontiac, the G6 is promising. Its minimalist exterior shape tosses aside the recent Pontiac tradition of excessive exterior cladding in favor of more effective proportional extremes to get the performance point across. Extremely short front and rear overhangs combined with wheels that are pushed as far into the corners as possible give the G6 a hunkered-down look despite its traditional four-door sedan configuration.
A supercharged V6 provides 285 horses for motivation while a fully independent, height-adjustable suspension and all-wheel drive put the power to the ground. Steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters allow for lighting-quick gear changes during aggressive driving, or you can just cruise along with the family using the standard automatic transmission mode. Displacement-on-demand technology increases fuel mileage by allowing the engine to shut down individual cylinders under light loads.
The interior is driver-oriented and simplistic in its design. Two-tone leather and titanium accents are used for visual pop while the instruments mimic the look of high-end sports watches. The center console stretches back between the rear seats and houses a separate audio system with individual headphones.
