Hi Guys, I'd like to pick your brains on a small problem I'm having with my video editing. Camcorder's attached to PC via firewire, captures to my PC no probs in any type ie best for playback on PC etc but when I try to capture it in AVI it hiccups it's way through or doesn't do at all. I've changed nothing on the PC and used to do this all the time, but now I've tried saving my video in AVI format so that I can send it back to the camcorder to put onto DVD/Video but picture distorts and no sound.

I've got pretty high specs on this PC plenty of ram, plenty hard drive etc, 128mb graphics so can't understand why it's started playing me up.

Any ideas????????????? :thinking2

it seems more like software than hardware issue ..

what editor are you using ?

Have the same problem with Ulead videolead, Pinnacle studio 8, Windows Movie Maker (latest version) and Videowave, the thing is I used to do videos using any one of those programmes and send them back to my camcorder to put on to vhs no problem, now I go to do exactly the same thing and find this problem. Someone said anti virus software could interfere with it but I'm sure I've always run that. It would be easier I think if it was hardware, ie if I needed a new firewire card but it can't be that cos films transfer ok except in AVI

Thanks anyway, believe me it's a problem that's outsmarted loads of PC guys over here so I thought why not pick you guys brains as well
