Let's here what you guys know about what is best and why
Supercharger or Turbo Charger:confused:

this has been debated a Bazillion times allover the world
each has their advantages and disadvantages...
Supercharger:
advantages:
isntant power, always there constant from 1,000rpm to red line
relatively easy to install
disadvantage:
belt driven, steals some power to make power
difficult or impossible to Intercool When bolted on to your intake
generally makes less peak power than a turbo
more application specific (can't take a Corvette super charger and throw it on an M5 for example)
Turbo
advantage:
intercooled
much higher pressure (upto 30+ psi!)
more adoptable between projects (i can throw a t-25 off a nissan and slap it to a honda with just a exhaust manifold)
Free power (uses waste exhaust gases to spool)
Disadvantage:
Turbo lag (can be countered and brough to a minumum but still tehre)
requires more piping and shoe horning to install (FMIC, piping, to and from intake manifold, oil cooling lines etc etc)
OR u can do Compound boosting... super charger kicks in at low rpm, and it spools up your nice BIG ass turbo.. so u can reach high boost too...
better have some strong ass internals tho, and some decent Grade octane gas to run... maybe a water misting system...
I'm probably missing a few off the top of my head that's what i can remember.. i'ts getting late.. can't think

turbocharger
1_increases the engine power output by using energy of waste exhaust
2_increase the power to weight ratio of the engine
3_reduces the engine noise and emissions
4_better fuel economy
5_requiers little maintenance if the lubrications and operatnig instruction are thoroughly followed
6_simple design and light weight unit
B_disadvantages
1_requires special precautions when starting and stopping the engine
2_easily damageable seals and oil leaking if the air cleaner was blocked
3_engine design changes when turbocharger is used.

blower
1_supplies fresh air for compression and scavenging
2_cools the internal part's of engins, specially exhaust valves
3_provides start up air when turbocharger is used
if I found more I will write them

i think that the blower is beter for the streets ,auto cros ,rallying
cus of the broder torq band and thire are diffrent tipes of super charger .
1 root
2 senterfugal
roots tipe has a cooler intake charge in lower boost but with grater volume and vize varza for the senterfugal.
konig a farrari has both a super charger is engaged till 3,000 rpm
then a twin turbo kiks in .:bigok:

Turbo should make more power! There is a Twin turbo LS1 that made somewhere in the 750 rwhp to 800 rwhp! And there is a single turbo LS1 that made about the same 750 rwhp to 800 rwhp!
I don’t know about any supercharged LS1 that makes that kind of power! And trust me I know a lot of LS1s
Anyway all of you guys have good points. But, I like the Turbo more. a turbo is not that good for Autocross or stuff like that because of the sudden boost that will make your car spin like crazy. But the supercharger on the other hand is way much better for that type of racing because of the predictable boost.
For straight-line racing, turbo is the way to go IMO.
However, all have good and bad with them! Turbo increases the temp of the oil resulting high temp at the engine! But the Super charger will load up more on the crank pulley; therefore, more stress on the crank, bearings, etc.
One more thing, a turbo is a real pain to tune!

TAG... :bigok:
You got that right... plus the Supercharger takes power from the engine to produce power.... but the Turbo takes power from exhust of the engine to make power... Turbos are way much better for power.... i think for Bahrain weather... the Supercharger is the safest way to go:confused:

I have a TRD supercharger on my 1MZFE Toyota engine. The only bad thing about in addition to that it used engine power to produce power is that it pushed HOT air into the engine after it compresses it. With the turbo you can use an intercooler, but with sentifugal type supercharger its impossible.
I like twin turbos with different timing. One kicks at low RPM and the other one kicks at high RPM that way you get away with low RPM lag and low torque.

for our climate, superchargers are better and also you get a wider torque band!

Please correct me if im wrong, but i believe new supercharged cars have intercoolers in them, for example Mini Cooper S, SL55 AMG.. This eliminates the fact of hot air entering the supercharged engine..
