Thread: Bahrain's Ministry Of Information Wants You to Registers our Website. Will You & Why?

Threaded View

  1. Bahrain's Ministry Of Information Wants You to Registers our Website. Will You & Why?

    Hello there!

I'm a student and blogger in Bahrain & I am currently carrying out a survey/poll (part of a university project) of how many website/blog owners in Bahrain will actually register their websites as per a new administrative order by Bahrain's Ministry Of Information.

This survey is being carried out at about 5 websites in various interest categories in Bahrain and is targeted at those between the age ranges of 13 to 45. However, anyone below or above that range is most welcome to participate as well. If there are any comments you have and would prefer to not post them on this thread, feel free to email your comments, constructive criticisms and suggestions to bahrainweb.survey@gmail.com

The poll consists of 3 choices which are as follows:

    - I will register my website with Bahrain's Ministry Of Information because I think it is the right thing to do

    - I don't know since I am unsure and/or still do not understand the new website registration law in Bahrain.

    - I will not register my website with Bahrain's Ministry Of Information because I think its against freedom of speech online.

Please feel free to post any comments you feel will be useful in relation to this poll/survey and whether you support the decision to register websites in Bahrain or not and why. Thank you all for your help, cooperation and participation in this survey.

Note: to the owner of this website (GulfGT.com) your help with your personal opinion regarding this poll and the decision to introduce the new administrative order to register websites in Bahrain is most appreciated.

Youd think a ministry would know that they can't police cyber space... hence its name... but if they wanna find out the hard way, ill b glad to sit back and laugh at them.

I'd go for the third choice, not only because I believe in the freedom of speech online but because what in God's name will they be able to do if I don't register my web-site..?!?!? Pure & Simple...

    -NOTHING-

A blog is information that is instantly published to a Web site. Blog scripting allows someone to automatically post information to a Web site. The information first goes to a blogger Web site. Then the information is automatically inserted into a template tailored for your Web site.

Bloggers in bahrain can be found out at BahrainBlogs.com

or just google the keyword 'blog' 'bahrain' and check out what you get.

  10. Thanks to everyone who participated in this survey and for all your feedback. That's very helpful.

Some of you have indicated that you don't see any point of personal websites and/or blogs being registered, however, some of you have pointed out that if commercial websites are to be registered it would be fine.

In otherwords would it be fine if commerical sites (webmasters running a business online ONLY) are issued with a web registration number - something just like a commerical registration number?

personally I think this website regulation is a silly excuse to clamp down on discussion forums like this one, so if I ever had my own forum I would never register it no matter what govt. official wants me to do

we are living in a communist era where everyone has to control our smallest move
